Molliewasnicknamed“TheDemon”becauseofherfierypacebowling.Shewasconsideredthefirstgenuinefemalefastbowlerininternationalwomen’scricket.
HailingfromDulwichHillsherepresentedAustraliainsixTests.Throughoutthe1937seriesinEnglandsheopenedthebowlingintandemwithfellowquickNellMcLarty,capturing6/144atanaverageof24.Notonlyafastbowlerandshewasasolidright-handbatter.SheplayeddomesticcricketforNewSouthWalesasbothan
openingbowlerandbatter.

TalentedfromanearlyageshemadeherNSWdebutthreedaysafterher16thbirthday.Shewasasuccessfulslowbowlerandinherfirstmatchshetookfourwickets.HerNSWperformanceswereoutstandingandincludedtheincrediblefiguresof8for7againstSouthAustraliain1938-39and118in1949-50–seventeenyearsafterherdebut.
ForAustraliaAmydebutedaged18playedinnineTestsbetween1935to1951.ShewastheonlyAustraliantogoonthefirsttwoWomen’sCrickettoursabroadin1937and1951,inacareerthatwasinterruptedbythe2ndWorldWar.AmyHudson,HazelPritchardandMollieFlahertyallplayedtogetheronthe1937AustraliantourtoEnglandandfortheNSWteammanytimes.

HerperformancesdrewcomparisonstoDonBradman,andshewasnicknamedthe"GirlBradman"–aseriouscompliment.
Duringthetour,AustraliaplayedMidlandsDistrictandHazelachievedanotherfirst–acenturybyanAustralianwomaninEngland.Sheeventuallyscored144notout.
HazelmadeherNSWdebutin1931attheageof17.Duringthe1936–37season,shescoredthefirstcenturyinwomen'sinterstatecricket,retiringoutafterscoring144againstQueensland.
