We are a group of girls from the local area aged S1+ at-

tending the girls group at the Jack Kane community

centre. We decided to create a magazine because last

term we worked on a cat walk show about young females

then people from the group came up with the idea to do

a magazine, so now we are working on a magazine thatshows all the things we think are cool, and theres an

about me section to find out more about us. We hope you

njoy the first edition of our new magazine!

We have compared a day in the life of a young female from Scotland with a

young female from Syria, we are going to go through an average daily roune

of each to show you what they are like.

One of the young females from Scotland is 11 years old and is going into pri-

mary 7 aer the summer holidays. Here is some of here favourite things and a

typical day for her

On a normal weekday I wake up at 7am. I

have a shower, have breakfast which is usually

a tuna sandwich my dad brings me from the

shop which I eat in the kitchen. I get ready in-

to my school uniform, leave the house at 8

oclock and drive in the car with my mum to

The Syrian civil war, which began with pro-

I am a 17 year old female called Hind

refugee camp. I wake up as usual beforedawn to have Sohour [the Ramadan

early-morning meal] then I go to the

the clothes in the river, collect water and

if there is me have some sleep.

At 8am I go back to the mosque for the daily Qur'an (Muslim version of bible)

lesson where I take part in classes to memorise the Qur'an. Aer that I go to

the bread distribuon point to receive our daily poron of bread. I go back

to home and to sit with my family. I have many responsibilies because I am

not by myself; theirs is three of us to help my mother with taking care of the

house. I was originally in the camp with my enre family but now a lot of my

brothers have le the camp to work and I am le here with two of my sisters.

My mother cooks dinner (over a camp re) and we clear dinner before

aending the mosque for our evening prayers, then home to bed.

juice before you go to bed, keep

some relaxing music and try and go

to bed at the same time every night

and get up at the same time (even

at the weekend).
