Day i Transfer from Bairnsdale to Melbourne
for your connecting flight to Hobart and
transfer to your overnight accommodation.
Day 2 Following a leisurely breakfast enjoy a
morning stroll from your centrally located
hotel. Perhaps take this opportunity to enjoy a
leisurely lunch down at the Hobart waterfront
before being collected from your hotel at
approximately 1.00p.m.for a Highlights of
Hobart tour. Your coach will deliver you to the
cruise ship.
Board at Hobart’s Macquarie Wharf at 4:00pm

A marine reserve, and part of the Tasmanian
Wilderness World Heritage Area, Port Davey is
Tasmania untouched. If conditions allow,
guests will spend two full days exploring this
pristine wilderness. Otherwise accessible only
via a 7 day hike or charter flight, Port Davey
feels like an endless unchartered wilderness,
full of endless sheltered bays filled with
endemic marine life to explore Disembark to
explore the ‘Narrows’ aboard our tender, an
obviously narrow stretch of water that very
few vessels can navigate through. Amble
remote Melaleuca village, and meet the locals
who live in a town accessible only by sea, air
or foot > Potential wildlife sightings of the
endangered Orange-bellied parrot.
BrUnY iSLanD & aDventUre BaY
Scenic cruise along the southern coast of
Bruny Island, site of the South Bruny National
Park > Walk to historic Cape Bruny Lighthouse,
first lit in 1838. Visit The Friars, a collection of
steep dolerite rocks, covering an area of
approx. 42 acres, that are home to a large
population of Australian Fur Seals. Aboard our
tender, drift past nesting seabirds. > Visit
Adventure Bay where you can swim, kayak or
relax on the sheltered beach > Be immersed in
history at the Bligh Museum of Pacific
Exploration. With your expedition leader,
participate in an optional guided Fluted Cape
Walk, starting from the eastern end of
Adventure Bay. Explore the historic 19th
century whaling station ruins Sample
Tasmanian wine at a tasting session.
FreYCinet nationaL parK & WinegLaSS BaY
The spectacular peninsula of Freycinet is
crafted from pink granite peaks – the Hazard
mountains – surrounded by azure bays, and
backed by dry eucalypt forest > Awake to
dawn at Freycinet National Park and take in
the majestic surroundings> With your
expedition leader, join an optional guided hike
to the Wineglass Bay Lookout . Later, join a
beachcombers walk along Wineglass Bay,
consistently voted one of the most
breathtaking beaches in the world.
Day 6 Maria iSLanD
Walk amongst the historic ruins, secluded bays
and rugged cliffs of Maria Island National Park,
and you can expect to meet more than a few
incredible creatures. Since the 1960s a number
of threatened species have been introduced
here, in a bid to protect their kind.
Expeditioners can expect sightings of native
pademelons, Forester kangaroos, Bennetts
wallabies and Tasmanian Devils > Visit World
Heritage-listed Darlington, part of the “Convict
trail of Australia” . A walk from Darlington
takes in the dramatic Painted and Fossil Cliffs,
created by the movement of mineral-rich
water though the rock, and by the later
eroding action of wind and wave. Then, from
Encampment Cove walk to the ruins of Maria
Island’s second convict station at Point Lesueur
at Long Point on the island’s west coast.
taSMan nationaL parK
Feel small again as you stand beside the 300
metre sea cliffs and monumental rock
formations of Tasman National Park. Be awed
at the sights of sea stacks – tall dolerite
formations – that stand tall out of the ocean.
View Tasman Arch, The Candlestick and
Cathedral from perfect positions at sea. In this
area of huge natural diversity, guests can
expect to meet Australian and New Zealand
Fur Seals “hauling out” on the rocky shore at
Tasman Island, as well as dolphins and
albatross.

Be sent back in time, and gain an
understanding of the life of convicts that built
Tasmania at Port Arthur Historic Site. This is
Australia’s most evocative convict site housing
Britain and Australia’s ‘worst’ criminals.
Participate in an exclusive ‘behind the scenes’
tour guided by a resident archaeologist. The
tour features private collections and historical
buildings not accessible to public. This
evening, enjoy Captain’s farewell reception at
Port Arthur’s Asylum building, memories of
the voyage warming the chilly history of the
room.
