Gilda’s Club NYC is hosting a special evening to highlight the creativity of our members. Join us for an evening that will honor all forms of art
developed by our members created in Gilda’s Club workshops. All mediums of art will be exhibited in the Dancehall during this reception
for our members to admire, along with their invited guests.
Art submission guidelines:
• Art created during Creative Expression Workshops may include origami, art-projects, stories, poems and stand-up comedy scripts.
• Participating members are welcome to submit up to two (2) pieces of art.
• Audio will be available for members who would like to share and reflect on their creation(s).

This free educational program gives people with multiple myeloma and their caregivers an opportunity to hear a trained Journey Partner share his or her personal experience of living with multiple myeloma and having an autologous stem cell transplant. You’ll also learn about helpful resources and the importance of considering a transplantevaluation.

Private Insurance: Coverage, Denials and the Appeals ProcessThursday, March 9; 6-8pmSpeaker: Vivienne Duncan, Esq., Director of the Elderlaw and Cancer Advocacy ProjectsThe denial of insurance coverage in the midst of a medical crisis can be devastating and knowing how to prepare a strong appeal is crucial. This presentation focuses on two main issues concerning (primarily private) medical insurance coverage for cancer patients, survivors and their caregivers: (1) common reasons for denial of insurance coverage, e.g. “experimental”, “medical necessity” and “out-of-network”, and (2) tips and strategies for challenging a coverage denial. Laws of particular relevance for cancer patients will be referenced in a brief overview.

Ac.Join us for an evening of health and well-being. Chef Jonathan Forgash will speak about creating meals with emotional and nourishing content; a powerful step to taking charge of your recovery. Robin Hardbattle will close the evening with a discussion on mindful meditation based on his experience working with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Attendees will learn breathing exercises and visualizations for future practice. The event will conclude with a Q&A.
