LRT4394 About the Project The Gilbert Road Extension will extend light rail on Main Street from Mesa Drive to Gilbert Road in Mesa. At Gilbert Road, there are significant transit connections and the ability to serve the growing transit demand in the East Valley. This extension will attract new riders and increase development opportunities in central Mesa. PROJECT STATUS NEXT STEPS • Approximately 10,000 linear feet of utility lines (communications, water, electrical and waste water) have been installed. • A community celebration was held in the spring to showcase local businesses. • The Shop on Rewards program launched in the fall to encourage the community to shop local. • Impacted business owners can learn more about Valley Metro construction business assistance programs by visiting valleymetro.org/community_outreach. • A public meeting to update the community on the project art and urban design will take place in August 2017.
