  From the President...

Hello GHRW members: I shall try not to be tooeuphoric and cheerful.  This

has been a stupendous week! We all worked hard to help theRepublican Party to win.  Weall knew that the future of theUnited States  was the prize. With help from otherConservatives, many of whomwere active with the Tea PartyMovement, we have won astunning political victory.

The Republican Party nowhas some 63 moreRepresentatives in the nationalHouse than they had.  We allFIRED PELOSI.  And theremight be even a few moreRepublicans added to thatfigure as some close races arefinally settled.  It is the biggestoff-year election win in 70years.  In addition to that there

will be at least 6 moreRepublican Senators in

Washington D.C.  They will nolonger run rough shod over theinterests and wishes of theAmerican voters.  Does this mean that it isfinally over, we are finallysafe?  Alas, NO.  They are

saying that the Republican tsunami was just because they"did not explain their actionsclearly.  The voters just did notunderstand what they weredoing".  The struggle has justbegun.  There is no FederalBudget.  We must have one bythe end of the year. That will be the first fight. Democrats will want to extendthe debt limit, Republicans willnot agree to do that withoutcertain spending guarantees. That is where the fight willcome in.  Let us hope thatsanity will step in and theDemocrats will becomeagreeable.  Remember that 2012 isjust 23 months away.  The

battle for the President's re-election has begun.

We also attended theannual convention of theWashington Federation ofRepublican Women.  It washeld in Bellevue.  It was a happy gathering ofRepublicans.  We did discuss

the election and the results inWashington.  We would haveliked to see more victorieshere in Washington, but we didsee some victories forRepublican candidates.  Thereare more Republicans in ourState delegation to Congressand in our state Legislature. We must work to recruit morecitizens to the Republican

ranks and start to prepare for2012.  I feel very optimistic. Americans understand verywell what is at stake in ourpolitical picture.  This is not abattle we can allow to be lost. I know that we won't lose.

member of our club, Sharon

Krey, was our guest speaker

for October. Her class

covered the basics of the Constitution

in a very simple format that can beused both for us, as adults, and also

for passing down to our children and

grandchildren.  Sharon provided us

with handouts, quizzed us, and

brought us up to date with candidates

who did not know the Constitution or

misinterpret it. Several young adults joined us at the

meeting to hear Sharon. The class

allowed all who heard it to look at

our Constitution in a completelydifferent way. One of our members,

JuDian Guimbellot, said that what

she learned and will ask elected

officials when they propose a Bill;

“First, can we afford it? Secondly,

what will it do to the rights and

individual freedoms of the people?”

Sharon was born in California and

has spent much of her married life inEastern Oregon & Washington. She

has taught Constitutional Classes to

clubs throughout the Northwest, and

has taught a college class for one

semester. While in Oregon she served as

Secretary of Oregon State's

Republican Party, Chaplain of

Pendleton's RW, and "Constitutional

Specialist"/Programs Chair in

Oregon's State Republican Women. She also started up a new RW Club

in Milton-Freewater. Her father, W.

Cleon Skousen, authored “The Five

Thousand Year Leap” which is her

inspiration for teaching the

Constitution.
