TODAYMAGAZINE.CA 3 MEETINGS IN CANADA – CROSSING THE BORDER The first step in ensuring a successful entry process is to contact an International Events and Convention Services Program Coordinator (IECSP) nearest to the location where the event is taking place, one to six months prior to the event’s scheduled start date. The coordinator will be able to assist and provide advice on what organizers need to know about bringing different events to Canada, including information on: Letters of Recognition: a letter of introduction issued by the IECSP Coordinator that is presented to the Canadian Border Services Agency upon arrival in Canada to facilitate your entry process. They can also assist you with border-related requirements, fee exemptions, information on moving goods from the Canadian border to the event venue, visitor Visa require- ments, duties and taxes. The benefit of going through the IECSP is that it helps to facilitate and expedite the border clearance of people and goods coming into Canada for an event, and will minimize any delays. They can provide guidance and advice right from the planning stage to the closure of the event. They will help make organizers aware of any special tax incentives they may be entitled too that will help to reduce event costs. Once your guests are in Niagara Falls, there is a bus service in place that will take them wherever it is in Niagara Falls they want to go. The WEGO bus system connects hotels and attractions around the area, and there are four different bus lines, which are distinguishable by colour (red, green, blue and purple). Day passes for the buses are available at most hotels in the area, and passes can be prearranged for delegates.
