You are about to add the ANGEL Learning Management System to your teaching toolbox, and we are very excited to help you! The Center for Teaching and Learning, in partnership with ANGEL Support, are ready to guide you through the process of creating an ANGEL course shell that will enhance your classroom teachings. Your review of this orientation document is the first step in that process. The Training Plan: Step 1 - Orientation and preparation: Read this document and complete the exercises within. You can accomplish this from any computer with an internet connection. It is very important that you orient yourself to ANGEL and prepare, because we have a lot of ground to cover in a limited amount of time during the workshop. Orientation should take no longer than 1 hour to complete. Step 2 - Attend workshop: Begin to build your ANGEL Master Shell in this 3 hour, hands-on training session (the “Master Shell” is your development area). If you are reviewing this document, you probably have already signed up to attend a Getting Started workshop. If not, please contact us to register, because this training is required before you can use ANGEL with your students! During this workshop, you will upload your syllabus, upload and organize course files, explore the mail feature, create your gradebook, and more. Step 3 – Complete Master Shell development: After the workshop, use what you have learned to continue customizing, setting up, and organizing your Master Shell. You may have more files to upload, additional adjustments to make to your gradebook, and other final touches to apply. Step 4 - Course Shell request: When you are ready to share your newly developed Master Shell with your students, you will fill out an online form to request a Course Shell. This Course Shell will be a copy of your developed Master Shell, but will be linked to the college’s enrollment database, allowing access to your students. Step 5 – Incorporate ANGEL into your classroom: Introduce your students to your ANGEL Couse Shell during class. Show them how to login, navigate through, and provide them with an overview of how you’ll be incorporating the tool into your classroom teachings! We are here to support you through every step of this process. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions!

Orientation and Preparation Hello and Welcome!

The Training Plan:

Step 1 - Orientation and preparation: Read this document and complete the exercises within.

Video Orientation

ANGEL is a powerful tool that offers a wealth of features to instructors and students. To begin your introduction to ANGEL, we have created three instructional videos which will provide the foundation for your ANGEL training. These videos are available on the CTL’s Instructional Technology at Macomb blog, which provides information and tips on a variety of instructional technology and teaching related subjects. Please visit the videos page on the CTL blog to access each of the videos: http://macombctl.wordpress.com/videos/

Getting Started with ANGEL – part 1 What is ANGEL, and what is a Learning Management System? What can you and your students do with ANGEL? How can it be used to enhance your teachings? This video will answer those questions! Video length: 6 min 41 sec.

Getting Started with ANGEL – part 2 Part 2 will help you to understand the login process, explain the difference between a Master Shell and a Course Shell, and demonstrate the options for navigating through an ANGEL course. Video length: 5 min 42 sec

Getting Started with ANGEL – part 3 The final video is a continuation of part 2, and will briefly explore each of the ANGEL shell content tabs, completing your orientation of ANGEL and it’s interface! Video length: 8 min 52 sec
