Page 1: Getting Back into Your Workout and Healthy Eating After Vacation

After a 10-day vacation up the California Coast, which included a wonderful 3 days at Pebble Beach,  it’s time for me to get back into work, life, nutrition, and my workout routine.  I did manage to get 5 workouts in and lots of walking in San Francisco.  The good thing about the workouts was that I switched things up a bit.  I used the hotel gym three days and did a variety of cardio machine and weights.  Two days I did do my great at home workout program, RevAbs from Beachbody.  So I won't feel the need to get in shape fast after this vacation since I did get some decent workouts in.

On the nutrition front, it’s hard to eat clean on vacation especially since our vacation this time centered around a number of great resturants in San Francisco that we wanted to try.  However, I did drink my Beachbody Shakeology drink each day.  I either had it for breakfast or lunch, just mixed with water to keep the calories down.  This 150-calorie meal was much healthier and lower in calories than any other meal at a restaurant, for sure!  But I will have to dial things back a bit and get my diet in shape fast now that I'm back or the pounds will creep on.

Who wants to get back to work after relaxing. I know its hard to do so I came up with a few tips that help me get back to the “grind” with ease and would like to share tese with you.

•• Don’t focus on what you did or didn’t do while you were away

on vacation. Your vacation is in the past and there is nothing you can change about it. You ate what you ate and you can’t change that now.  You need to focus on what’s

ahead. Before you go on vacation, you are in the groove feeling great.  This is the time to make a plan for when you return.  Write down what you will do (eat, exercise) when you get back.  This will ensure that you will have something all set up for when you return.  And you won’t have to think about it, just do it!

• Make sure to start exercising and get back to your healthy nutrition the day you get back.  I know it’s super tough to motivate and get your mind and body off of vacation mode. Don’t wait another day or week to start because it won’t be any easier.  The longer you wait to get back at it, the more likely you won’t want to start at all.  We all know this was not your plan when you left for vacation.  Getting right back  into exercising and healthy eating will ultimately kick start you and help with any weight gain. I guarantee that once you get the first workout out of the way the rest will fall into place. It always seems to be that first one that is always super tough.

• Set a short-term goal for the first week back.  A short-term goal and a plan of what you will do when you return will really help.  There will be no debate… just follow the plan and make the goal.  Your goal might be to exercise 4 times your first week back and then 5 times your second week back. Make the goal easy to accomplish on week one and something that you know you will actually do. The second week your goal should definitely be harder to accomplish. After week two you should be back to normal and feel like you are back in shape fast.  You can do like me and just jump back in full force with one of Beachbody’s great at home workout programs like Insanity, P90X, P90X2, RevAbs, Brazil Butt Lift, or TurboFire.

The longer you wait the harder it will be to restart.  If you can take these tips and stick to it, then you won’t  have anything to worry about and you can enjoy your vacation.  And there will be no need to feel like you need to get in shape fast.  I've also got some great Beachbody Challenge Groups going and starting up every month.  After vacation would be a great time to join one.
