Getting a Drivers License

Introduction

This guide will help young drivers to:

What is a drivers license?

● A document that is obligatory for every person that want to drive a motor vehicle on public roads

● In the United States, it is issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), which is a state agency, and that is why the regulations and laws for obtaining a license may differ from state to state.

Steps to get a license

1) First you must go through a physical examination, and eye examination.

2) Then you have to pass a written test

3) Than you have to pass a practical road test.

Specific cases (other vehicle types)

● A special license is issued for commercial vehicles, such as buses, trucks and tractors with trailers - Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDL)

● Vehicle transporting hazardous materials need to go through some additional training.

Drivers permit

● There is a requirement in some states for acquiring drivers permit prior to a license. The permit is temporary and allows learner drivers to operate motor vehicles, but with certain restrictions (like experienced driver company).

● After the required period of time, the future driver may apply for a driver's license.

● The minimum age limit for a license varies subject to individual state laws, but it's usually not under 16.
