A Scholarship Program for Suffolk Students

How to Apply1. Download the application from our web page:

sunysuffolk.edu/GTFH and click on “How to Apply.”

Fill out the entire application and save the file as Lastname_Firstname.pdf then email it as an attachment to [email protected] with “GTFH Scholarship Application” as the subject line.

2. Submitting Transcripts:• Save the transcript file as Lastname_Firstname Transcript.pdf.• Email as an attachment to [email protected] with

“GTFH Transcripts” as the subject line or mail to:

Continuing Suffolk students: submit Suffolk unofficial transcript.New students: submit official high school transcript, SAT/ACT scores and college transcripts.

3. Letters of recommendation:• Request two letters of recommendation emailed as attachments to

[email protected].• The first letter of recommendation must be from an academic/

educational source and must be emailed from their school email account.• The second letter of recommendation, if not from an instructor/advisor,

must be emailed from an official organization email account.

*Emails from yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc. will not be accepted.

The Get There From Here Scholarship Program was designed to promote academic excellence and provide an opportunity for outstanding students to reach their highest potential. This important initiative is made possible through a generous gift from an anonymous donor to the Suffolk Community College Foundation. The maximum annual award may be as much as $6,500 and can be used to cover tuition, fees, books and supplies. The scholarship is renewable for up to a maximum of five semesters or until the student graduates, provided the student maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Other benefits include:• Attending workshops and seminars on

personal and academic topics.• Meeting periodically with senior

College administration.• The opportunity to participate in life

skills training and life/career mapping.

All residents of Suffolk County are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Preference will be given to new and continuing students who attend Suffolk full-time and meet certain criteria. A very limited number of scholarships may be awarded to part-time students who exhibit outstanding potential.

All candidates for the scholarship must:• Complete an application to attend

Suffolk County Community College and receive formal acceptance, or already be enrolled at the College.

• Demonstrate college-level preparedness as verified by ACT or SAT scores, high school transcript, testing at the college, or by completing college coursework with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

Individuals who are awarded the scholarship must attend Suffolk in the fall semester immediately following receipt of the scholarship and must volunteer a total of 10 hours per semester at an approved agency/non-profit organization.
