1. Personal safety• don’t reveal personal details (eg date of birth, home address)
2. Ownership• you own your account (but IOE owns groups set up on its behalf)
3. Your behaviour• the same rules apply to the virtual world
Set up your account
1. Go to homepage and enter your details in “Join Linked Today”
2. Enter your details in the “start creating your professional profile” box
3. Skip this step
4. Access your confirmation email and activate your account
5. Skip this step
6. Choose the Basic version
7. Skip this step and click on “Profile” in the top menu bar
Complete your profile
1. Edit your basic information

Visit your home page
1. Import email contacts box (don’t import contacts from ioe.ac.uk)

1. Decide on your success criteria:• job leads, consultancy leads, useful information, profile views, traffic to website• number of group members, level of group activity
2. Use LinkedIn statistics features:• individual profile data (need to upgrade to paid-for version)• group data (free is ok)
