The Philosophy Doctor (PhD) program by Research via Distance Learning has been accredited by the WCI (World Certification Institute). The role of WCI is to accredit courses conducted by universities, colleges, schools, professional institutes and other educational institutions.

The accreditation process for study programs is very rigorous.

This process involves a detailed examination of the course content and duration; qualifications and skills of teachers and supervisors; financial strength and integrity of course providers; availa-ble facilities and resour-ces; method of delivery and evaluat ion and, above all, their relevance for professional and career development.

When a study pro-gram is successful ly accredited, graduates of the accredited course are deemed to have met the qualification criteria for WCI certified credentials.

As an accredited institution we have recei-ved the Certificate of Accreditation from the WCI which describes the accredited program and the level of eligibility. From now the Certificate of Selinus University will include the phrase: "Course accredited by the World Certification Institute", next to the WCI logo. This will allow, in any country, a rapid recognition of the value of the program and of the candidate who obtained the PhD.

The world of research is in permanent evolution and high profile people need to be recognized as their knowledge and professionalism. Selinus University distance learning degree programs from its faculties allows access to many specializations in which the student can choose the topics of doctoral research or propose to the University an original PhD thesis.

With a Doctor of Philosophy Degree you can write scientific papers or applying for managerial role. The researcher who enrolls in a course of distance Ph.D should be aware that a distance learning degree program does't allow to do experimental research.

Admission into these programs is restricted and limited to qualified candidates with demonstrated theoretical and technical knowledge in their fields of study due to the fact that many of the credits required in scientific specializations cannot be provided through distance learning higher education. A Selinus University distance learning degree program is an effective way to give more value to a traditional scientific background with innovative approaches and further specialization.

The Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) is earned by successful completion and defense of a theoretical research on any specialization. This research is presented as a Doctoral Thesis. The Ph.D is the only doctorate degree that may be earned via distance learning. It should be made clear that any laboratory

work or professional practice may not be conducted online or through any other distance education.

In order to obtain an ordinary PhD in a traditional university, from 4 to 6 years of study, research and frequency of a campus are necessary, as well as a cost that varies from 10 thousand to 15 thousand dollars. Not all students can spend such a high sum.

The Ph.D by Research via distance learning, however, does not require the frequency of a Campus, so it is also suitable for students who work and professionals engaged in the world of work or teaching.

We know that a researcher can already do research and have published books and articles, so for the realization of the thesis no minimum time is required, while the maximum is 24 months. In fact, to complete the Ph.D program in Selinus University, 18 months are sufficient, plus six more if requested by the student.

The main requirement for obtaining a Ph.D By research via Distance Learning consists in carrying out a theoretical research in any discipline of human knowledge. The research must be original, and above all, must be carried out by the student in an independent and independent manner. The research culminates in a final thesis of at least 80/90 pages or more to be presented to the academic committee for approval.

The great advantage of a Ph.D By research, besides that of working freely, is the low cost. In fact, for Ph.D 65 credits are required over the Master.

The cost of the single credit for the independent program by Research is only Euros 35 for a total of 2,275 euros. While for an ordinary Ph.D it is 175 euros for a total of 11,375 euros. The low cost is determined by the fact that there are no costs for campuses, laboratories, assigned teachers, but only evaluation costs.

For the Ph.D by research program, however, a maximum payment is allowed in three consecutive monthly installments, or in single payment with an additional 10% discount.

At the conclusion of the research program the set of Doctor of Philosophy degree is released, normally after thirty days from the approval of the thesis and includes: two diplomas: one notarized and legalized with Apostille Government as required by the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961.

The Commonwealth of Dominica is a member of the British Commonwealth, the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie and UNESCO. Under the laws of the Commonwealth on academic qualifications and conduct of university business, Selinus University of Sciences and Literature is legally authorized to carry out all the activities of a private international post-secondary educational institution, including the conferral of degree. Selinus University under the statute governing its activities does not offer educational activities within the State of the Commonwealth of Dominica. Selinus University enjoys no state funding in respect of any of its educational activities. The activities of international Private Commercial Universities in the Commonwealth of Dominica, which operate outside the country, are exempted by law and are the responsibility of the Registrar of Companies, rather than of the Ministry of Education, which deals exclusively with purely national institutions. In many countries, the candidate must defend this work in front of a group of experienced examiners appointed by the university.

At Selinus University, as a distance institution, since students come from various parts of the world, sometimes with scores of thousands of miles, they can defend their thesis in three differents ways:
