Geostatisticsformining,petroleum,
geothermalandenvironmentalapplicationsTheUniversityofAdelaidehoststheleadingGeostatisticsgroupinAustraliawith
extensiveexpertiseingeostatisticalmodellingandpredictioninmineralresource,
petroleumreservoir,geothermalandenvironmentalapplications.
CapabilitiesThegrouphasacombinedexpertiseofover40yearsinthemodelingand
estimationoforebodies,coaldepositsandhydrocarbonreservoirs,oftenin
verycomplexgeologicalsettings;thegenerationofthree dimensional
orebodymodelsasthebasisforoptimalminedesignandscheduling;
establishingresourcesandreservestogetherwithassociatedconfidence
limits;andthequantificationofgeologicalandtechnicalriskassociatedwith
resourceextraction.Wehaveindustrialapplicationsintheseareasonall
continentsincludingthemodelling,appraisalandevaluationofmanyofthe
worldsmajororebodiesinAustralasia,Europe,Africa,NorthAmericaand
SouthAmerica.
Recentworkhasfocusedonthecharacterisationofrockmassesfor
environmentalriskanalysisandassessment;formining;andforhotdryrock
geothermalenergy.Applicationsincluderiskassessmentforthesafestorage
ofhazardouswastesinundergroundrepositories;predictionofpollutant
trajectoriesinthesubsurfaceoftheearthandtheirlikelyconsequences;
assessmentsofcontaminatedland;investigationsintocausesandeffectsof
contaminationofthenaturalenvironment;theextractionofmineraland
hydrocarbonresources;andthemodellingoffracturenetworksforenhanced
geothermalsystems.

comprehensivesetofcorefunctionalitiesincluding
datacompositing,
statisticalanalysis,
orebodyandblockmodelling,
variogramanalysis,
linearandnonlineargeostatisticalestimationmeth
geostatisticalsimulationtechniquesforquantitative
qualitativevariables.Newalgorithmsareaddedto
GEOSTATWINastheybecomeavailableandwedevelo
customisedsoftwareforspecificapplications.
