Objectives :
1. ICARTT campaign summer 2004:
• Support flight planning: monitor any large deviations between the aircraft observations and our understanding of ozone and aerosol processes that may cause alteration of flight plans,
• Generate a set of preliminary findings
2. Support satellite validation: Used at JPL by Qinbin Li for first analysis of TES and MLS data
3. Comparison with in situ measurements: Used by Dan Jaffe’s group in University Washington

2x2.5 horizontal resolution, 30 levels, global
based on GEOS-4 1st look met fields
daily-updated biomass burning emissions for North America based on MODIS hotspots
daily plane flight diagnostic
(1st included for ICARTT)
2-D “column” timeseries for tropospheric CO, O3, NO2, HCHO for 1st look, direct comparison with satellites
Runs semi-automated using perl scripts developed by Bob Yantosca
