Step One: Register with CMS• Available to Georgia Eligible Hospitals Now• Available to Georgia Eligible Professionals – Sept. 2011

registration for incentive payments

Medical Assistance Provider Incentive Repository (MAPIR)

• MAPIR is an application that is being added to the Georgia Web Portal. This application will be accessed via the current GA MMIS provider portal

• MAPIR is the tool for registering and attesting for a Medicaid EHR Incentives Payment at the State level

• GA will receive your information from the CMS Registration and Attestation system

Attestation

• State Level Registration requires the applicant to attest to the following:– Appropriate Provider Type

• Physician, Dentist, Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Physician Assistant– Not a hospital based practitioner– Eligible Professional at a FQHC or RHC

• Acute Care, Children’s or Critical Access Hospital– Certified EHR technology

• Adoption, Implementation, or Upgrade in first payment year (Meaningful Use in future years)

– Patient Volume Calculator (for Eligible Professionals)– Patient Volume and Incentive Payment Calculator (for Eligible Hospitals)*– Voluntary assignment of payments

Attestation

• Supporting Documentation

• Responsibility for accurate information in application

• A digital signature is required attesting to ALL information in the application and submitted in support of the application

Required Documentation

Applicants will be required to upload specific documentation during the application process:

• Adoption: Acquired and installed– Evidence of acquisition, installation, etc.– A contract, purchase order, lease agreement, etc.

• Implementation: Start using– Evidence of staff training, data entry of patient demographic information into

EHR, data use agreements

• Upgrade: To EHR technology certified by ONC– Evidence of a contract, purchase order, lease agreement, etc. that

demonstrates you have upgraded to certified EHR technology

• Patient Volume and Incentive Payment Calculator – Eligible Hospitals*

Pre-Incentive Payment Monitoring

Georgia will conduct a series of monitoring activities prior to payment– The Eligible Provider must be in good standing with

Medicaid– Meet the requirements for eligible provider type

• Not a hospital based provider• If applicable, meets the requirements for an Eligible Professional at

a FQHC or an RHC– Evaluate the patient volume calculations– Evaluate the Incentive Payments calculations

Post-Payment Monitoring

On a post-payment basis, Georgia will:• Conduct post-payment monitoring of

calculations and documentation provided during registration

• Maintain all documentation for a minimum of six years
