ABOUT THE ARTIST: International Award-winning artist Georgia Mansur grew up in California and moved to Australia in 1984--now living on their family vineyard in Mudgee, NSW. Georgia is well versed in all media and has a particular passion for painting en plein air (outdoors). Plein air painting is fast, fresh, and exhilarating--the goal is to capture the essence of the scene before you amidst changing light, weather and not always pleasant conditions--something only the heartiest of painters can manage. The immediacy of painting from life whilst experiencing the sights, sounds and smells of the environment injects raw energy and emotion into Mansur’s work, making the viewer feel like they are ‘there’. Georgia’s work is a reflection of her emotional response to the world around her, painting subjects in an expressive manner. A Watermedia specialist, Mansur loves the ease of traveling
with paints that wash up in water, continuing to explore and express her fascination with nature. Having completed a Bachelor of Arts in Communication at California State University Sacramento, Georgia feels painting is an interesting way to communicate with others on many different levels. Georgia’s paintings are diverse in subject matter as well as technique, often displaying her adventurous nature. Collectors are always interested in what the artist is experimenting with lately and look forward to her next step in the creative journey. Georgia loves traveling and sharing her passion for painting with others, helping them to discover their own creativity. Georgia teaches painting workshops all around the world, including Australia, Italy, France, Portugal, Croatia, the Greek Islands, USA and the UK. Georgia plays an active role in the Cultural Community and has been a member of the Mudgee ADFAS (Australian Decorative and Fine Arts) steering committee, Mudgee Arts Council Committee, Chairperson of Visual Arts and has been on the Board of ArtsOutWest. Australian Representative of KAWA (Kick Ass Women Artists), Member CAC (California Art Club), Member IPAP (International Plein Air Painters), and LPAPA (Laguna Plein Air Painters Assoc), Australian Pastel Society and CWA (California Watercolor Assoc), NWS (National Watercolor Society), and AGRA (Australian Guild of Realist Artists).
