Project Objective
To assist public safety agencies in understanding the capabilities of the GIN network and operating it more effectively in daily and emergency operations
Funding/Project Period
Funding provided through GEMA/HS by the Interoperable Emergency Communications Grant Program (IECGP)
Project initiated October 2009 Courses to be developed and deployed
over two years

GEMA/HS & GSP providing overall technical guidance
User review committee from Georgia 911 community providing course evaluations
911 center operators providing user testing

Stand-alone web training courses & video: Basic operator course (completed) Awareness video (projected completion 1st quarter

Supplemental web training courses: Basic radio training course (projected completion 2nd
quarter 2011) Designing radio system infrastructures to enhance
use of the GIN course (projected completion 3rd quarter 2011)
Operator Course Overview
Course explains GIN functionalities, demonstrates them, and then allows students to practice and show mastery of skills
Course now available free of charge, 24/7, on web for public safety agency personnel statewide

Course Features
Based on a series of lessons describing key GIN functionalities
Simulates how GIN functionalities work then allows student to perform tasks
Presents standard methods of operating GIN tasks, not all possible methods
Provides optional audio narrative Takes approximately 2-4 hours to complete Certificates of completion & CEUs to be
provided

trouble getting into the course An email address to identify content issues
and suggest changes in the course Changes will be considered during the
first 6 months of course availability, then a second version of the course will be created.
