The candidate shall be provided with a high lift mechanical jack or ram, a backboard or other protective device, and rope or webbing.3. The candidate shall be provided with a vehicle or simulated vehicle.4. The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the exercise.


"The candidate, given a vehicle and appropriate equipment, shall demonstrate displacing the dashboard."


u 2. Assures that the vehicle is stable.

3. Remove door(s) as necessary.

u 4. Places a backboard or other protective device between the victim and the bottom of the "A" post where

the relief cut will be made.

5. Ensures victim safety throughtout the operation.

u 6. Removes the roof or makes a relief cut through the upper third of the "A" post.

u 7. Makes relief cuts & exert pressure with appropriate tools to displace dash.

u 8. In a controlled manner, pushes the dash up and off of the victim.

u 9. Once the dash has been removed from the victim, build a crib to hold the sill in the proper position & to

prevent the dash from moving.

REMOVE VEHICLE WINDOWS

u 2. Assures that the vehicle is stable.

3. Attempts to lower windows as far as possible before attempting to break glass, then selects a spring-

loaded center punch or axe.

4. Assures that all vehicled occupants are properly protected.

u 5. Warns other personnel by the verbal command "Breaking Glass," unless a stop/freeze call is made, while

you continue with glass removal starting with a window furthest from the victim.

u 6. Places the center punch in the lower corner of the window and applies pressure until the spring is

activated, or strike the lower corner with the axe.

7. Removes any loose glass around the window opening with a tool.

8. Follows this procedure until all glass is removed.

graph taken.

ASSEMBLE EQUIPMENT FOR FOAM STREAM

FLFC-1

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE MONITOR/EVALUATOR 1. The candidate shall be provided with 1-1/2" or 1-3/4" hose with nozzle. 2. The candidate shall be provided with a container of foam or simulated concentrate and an in-line foam eductor. 3. The candidate shall be informed as to where a "flammable liquids spill" is located. 4. The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the exercise.


"The candidate, given the fire hose and nozzle provided, foam concentrate, and an in-line eductor, shall demonstrate assembling the equipment and charging the line in preparation to produce a foam stream."

u 1. Checks the eductor and the nozzle to ensure they are rated for the same GPM flow.

u 2. Sets the foam eductor for the same percentage rating as indicated on the foam container.

u 3. Selects and attaches hose to the intake side and a hoseline with nozzle on the discharge side of eductor.

4. Assures that the nozzle is not more than the allowed distance (usually not more than 150') from the eductor.

u 5. Places the pick-up tube of the eductor in the foam concentrate.

6. Charges hoseline, ensuring there is a minimum 200 psi at the eductor.

7. Removes all kinks from the hoseline.

u 5. Directs the foam stream away from the fire/spill until the proper foam stream is being generated.

u 6. Directs the foam stream on the ground near the front edge of the burning liquid pool.

7. Continues to apply foam until it spreads across the entire surface of the fuel and the fire is extinguished.

8. Changes position along the edge of the spill, as needed, to ensure foam adequately covers the spill.

2. Checks for hose gasket when making each connection.

3. Connects an open test valve (if availiable) to discharge side of pump and tightens with spanners.

4. Connects hose to test valve and tightens with spanners.

5. Secures test hose with rope, rope hose tool, or hose strap approximately 15" from test valve andsecures other end to nearby anchor.

u 6. Attaches shut-off nozzle to open hose end.

7. Fills hose with water to a maximum of 50 psi.

u 8. Opens nozzle and bleeds the air from hose.

u 9. Closes nozzle after purging air.

u10. Marks all sections of hose behind coupling using chalk or pencil marks.

u 11. Checks for and replaces any leaking (weeping) section of hose and retightens.

12. Closes hose test gate.

u 13. Increases pump pressure to appropriate pressure and monitors for leaks.

u 14. Maintains pressure for five minutes, continues to monitor for coupling slipping or leaks.

u 15. After five minutes reduces pressure, closes discharge valve, and disengages pump.

16. Slowly opens nozzle, bleeds off pressure, and breaks all hose connections.

u 17. Makes final check of any coupling slippage or hose that may have leaked or failed.

18. Marks defective hose with tags for future repair or destruction.
