u 2. Arranges cribbing blocks in a crate-like manner with two or more blocks laid side by side.

u 3. Lays two more blocks on top of and perpendicular to the first two blocks near the end of the blocks

underneath.

u 4. Keeps hands/arms from between cribbing and vehicle. (safety hazard)

5. Continues in this process until desired height is reached.

6. Uses angled blocks to wedge between the top blocks and the object being stabilized.

DISPLACE THE DASHBOARD6.4.1

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE MONITOR/EVALUATOR1. The candidate shall be provided with a hacksaw, reciprocating saw, hydraulic cutter, or air chisel.2. The candidate shall be provided with a high lift mechanical jack or ram, a backboard or other protective device, and rope or webbing.3. The candidate shall be provided with a vehicle or simulated vehicle.4. The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the exercise.

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATE

"The candidate, given a vehicle and appropriate equipment, shall demonstrate displacing the dashboard."

u 1. Wears full protective clothing, including eye protection.

u 2. Assures that the vehicle is stable.

3. Remove door(s) as necessary.

u 4. Places a backboard or other protective device between the victim and the bottom of the "A" post where

the relief cut will be made.

5. Ensures victim safety throughtout the operation.

u 6. Removes the roof or makes a relief cut through the upper third of the "A" post.

u 7. Makes relief cuts & exert pressure with appropriate tools to displace dash.

u 8. In a controlled manner, pushes the dash up and off of the victim.

u 9. Once the dash has been removed from the victim, build a crib to hold the sill in the proper position & to

prevent the dash from moving.

REMOVE VEHICLE WINDOWS

CVE-12

6.4.1

u 1. Wears full protective clothing, including eye protection.

u 2. Assures that the vehicle is stable.

3. Attempts to lower windows as far as possible before attempting to break glass, then selects a spring-

loaded center punch or axe.

4. Assures that all vehicled occupants are properly protected.

u 5. Warns other personnel by the verbal command "Breaking Glass," unless a stop/freeze call is made, while

you continue with glass removal starting with a window furthest from the victim.

u 6. Places the center punch in the lower corner of the window and applies pressure until the spring is

activated, or strike the lower corner with the axe.

7. Removes any loose glass around the window opening with a tool.

8. Follows this procedure until all glass is removed.
