At the heart of the Christian faith is our participation in the life, suffering,death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ as Lord. During the season of Lent, weaffirm that in the heat of our struggles and at the root of our joys, stands theOne who frees us from the bonds of our slavery; the One who heals us that wemay live life and live that life abundantly. Lent is a time of reflection andrepentance; a time of redirecting ourselves towards God. However, while thereis a somberness to Lent, there is also the joy of affirming that God’s love claimsus even in the midst of our rebellions. Accordingly, each Sunday in Lentremains a celebration of life and we leave our Lenten worship services singing ahymn affirming God’s love and grace.

With the night, Good Lord, comes rest, and a chance for my soul to berestored. I pray that you will improve the eyes of my faith, so that I can seeyou more clearly, love you more dearly, and follow you more nearly in all mytomorrows. In the name of your Son, my Savior, I pray. Amen.
