ADELE, ALICIA KEYS & CHRISTINA AGULEIRA

As a group, me, Danny and Jazmine have decided that the genre for our music video will be Pop/Contemporary Pop. As part of our research, we have decided that the 3 already-existing artists that are similar to the image of our artist and the genre of our artist is:

CHRISTINA AGUILERA

ABOUT ADELE:

ADELE is an English singer-songwriter. She graduated from the well-acclaimed BRIT School and was given a recording contract by XL Recording after one of her friends posted a demo of her early songs on the social networking site MySpace. ADELE currently has 3 studio albums, 19, 21 and 25. She has achieved a total of 114 awards (including 8 Grammys). The singers current NetWorth is held at a total of $88million. She has held countless records including being the most streamed artist of 2015, the most viewed YouTube music video in under 24hours and, holding her latest album 25 at the number one spot for a countless number of weeks. ADELE has even gone to be the singer and provide the official soundtrack for the James Bond movie: SkyFall.

We have decided to look towards inspiration from ADELE as we feel as though the genre of music which ADELE fits around also suits our artist. With ADELEs music genre being slow, contemporary pop ballads, we feel as though this will best suit our artist as our artist also similarly fits around this genre of music.

ADELEs MUSIC VIDEOS:

The music videos that I feel best resembles and establishes ADELEs genre of music are: Someone Like You, Hello and When We Were Young. These music videos are very simple, traditional and doesnt strongly follow a distinct narrative. However, the reason I feel this best resembles ADELE is because each of these music videos follows just plainly the star herself and just focuses on her songs without distracting the viewers from the her with over-extravagant videos and narratives. This is why I feel as though this would be a positive and beneficial attribute to consider for our artist as we would like to try and showcase the artist themselves within our music video, without the narrative being too confusing.

ADELE has done a variety of live performances over the years as she rose to her fame, including a ground-breaking performance of Someone Like You at the BRIT awards, a performance of When We Were Young at the 2016 BRIT awards and a performance of her record-breaking Hello live on The NRJ Awards.

ABOUT ALICIA KEYS:

ALICIA KEYS is an American singer, songwriter, pianist, record producer and actress. ALICIA released her debut album after being signed to the well-established record company of J Records. With her debut album Songs In A Minor being a commercial success, she then went on to release 6 additional albums as of date. The singers NetWorth is held at $130million whilst achieving a total of 230 awards. Similarly to ADELE, ALICIA has also recorded an official soundtrack for the James Bond movie Quantum Of Solace and has recorded a soundtrack for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie.

We have decided to look towards ALICIA as inspiration for our artist as her genre of music (contemporary Pop ballads) fits well with the genre of our artist and, we would like to try and market and make our artist fit the style and the way ALICIA is marketed with her music and videos.

ALICIA KEYS MUSIC VIDEOS:

The 3 music videos that I feel best resembles and establishes ALICIA are: No One, Brand New Me and Falling. The reason behind these choices of music videos in particular is because they show ALICIA similarly to ADELE as vulnerable, innocent but no inclusions of confusing narratives to distract the audience from the star, which would fit well for our artist. Instead, this again allows the audience to focus solely on the music from the artist.

ALICIA over the years has done a variety of live performances in order to promote her music. This includes a live performance of her song No One on AOL live sessions, Falling live at the 2001 MTV VMA Awards and Brand New Me live on The View.

ABOUT CHRISTINA AGUILERA:

CHRISTINA is an American singer, songwriter, actress, dancer and record producer. She first made her debut into the music entertainment industry by being involved with The Mickey Mouse Club and then recorded a song for Disneys 1998 film Mulan, in which she was given a deal by the record company of RCA Records. With the success of her debut album Christina Aguilera in 1998, she then went on to release multiple albums to date. The singer has achieved a total of 82 awards and has a current net worth of $130million.

We have decided to have CHRISTINA as one of our inspiration for our artist because even though we envision our music video being non-confusing in terms of its narrative, we still would like a narrative to follow in particular to accompany the performance and the music that our artist will providing. Furthermore, the genre that CHRISTINA also follows is contemporary pop ballads, which is the genre we as a group are looking at.

CHRISTINAS MUSIC VIDEOS:

The music videos that I feel best represents and establishes CHRISTINAs genre of music are: Hurt, Beautiful and I Turn To You. The reason for this decision is because each video follows a narrative, similar to the other 2 artist, that isnt too much and too confusing but, is enough to occupy and allow the audience to focus on CHRISTINAs performance, her music and her narrative, which I feel that our music video should also incorporate for our artist.

CHRISTINA over the years has done a variety of live performances to help support and accompany her music with performances of: Beautiful at the 2004 Grammy Awards, Hurt live at the 2006 MTV VMA Awards and I Turn To You live at the 2000 ATA Awards.

CONCLUSION:

Conclusively, we feel as though with the balance of all 3 of our research artists (Adele, Alicia and Christina) combined, we will be able to find a nice and fine balance between the 3 by incorporating each of their different techniques and styles that they individually provide and use to their advantages in order to help mould our artist for our music video.
