Genre ResearchAs a group, we decided to do a drama as we felt we really wanted to move our audience - emotionally. As the director, I felt it would be a nice change and a good challenge as I had never created a drama piece, the cameraman and I feel we will work well closely and also, I put my trust in the fact that the editor will bring to the screen something I visualise. A drama will be extremely hard to pull off, however if we do pull it off, it will be extremely rewarding.Our sub-genre would be melodrama, which uses plots that appeal to the heightened emotions of the audience. Melodramatic plots often deal with crises of human emotion, failed romance or friendship, tragedy, illness or emotional and physical hardship.Other subgenres of drama would be: Crime drama involves criminals and legal system Historical drama focus on dramatic events in history Docudrama uses real people to describe historic events Comedy-drama balance of humour and serious content Romance film that dwells on elements of romantic love Tragedy where a characters downfall is a result of a flaw in their character
