Repetition of the chorus visually• One main generic convention is the repetition of the chorus

visually.• In the video the song has this convention as every time it

comes to the chorus it switches between the singer being in a tunnel and in the top of the building.

Playing of instruments.

• There are of course many instruments played in every song. In this song in particular there is a variety.

• The guitar is played continuously throughout pretty much the entire song as the main kind of backing track.

• Also as for the drums they are played throughout the song but are played very quietly when the singer isn’t singing and mainly come into play when the chorus is sung.

Change of costume• For the change of costume I’ll focus on the lead singer as his the only

person we really see change clothes.

• When his in the tower he is wearing a brown leather jacket. Not usually seen these days so it suggests he is different. With them he looks like his wearing some old grey trousers which are also quite outdated.

• When he switches to the tunnel he is wearing like an old barber jacket however they have come back into fashion lately. There's also one point where his wearing a longer parker jacket.

Change of costume

• Another generic convention is dancing but in this video there is no dancing.

• Also the generic convention of the singer looking into the camera only happens when he is in the tunnel.

• Another generic convention includes miming. Whilst all videos include this it is hard to tell whether the singer is miming in the video or not.

• There are also plenty of close ups of the artist. This helps the catch his visual expressions and emotions.

• One generic convention which have become more apparent recently is the use of live footage of a performance in the video but in this song we don’t see this.

• However we do see the use of changes of locations. We see this used when the shot switches between the tunnel and the top of the building.

• There are also flattering camera angles shots and movements of the artist which help the viewers sympathise and feel in touch with the artist.
