Magellan Complete Care Child Health Check-Up Program (CHCUP)
Child Health Check-Up is Florida’s name for the federal program known as the Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) program. The CHCUP benefit provides comprehensive and preventive health care services for children under age 21 who are enrolled in Medicaid. MCC promotes appropriate preventive, dental, mental health, developmental, and specialty services for its child and adolescent members in order for them to have healthy lives.
Components of the Child Health Check-Up include: Comprehensive health and developmental history Appropriate Immunizations Lab tests including blood lead
testing as appropriate Comprehensive unclothed physical exam
Developmental and Autism screening
Health education and anticipatory guidance
Nutritional assessment Vision screens and services Diagnosis and treatment if necessary
Dental screens and services Hearing screens and services Referral and follow-up, as appropriate
Purpose • Provide comprehensive, preventive, well child care on a regularly scheduled basis • Identify and correct medical conditions before the conditions become serious and disabling • Provide an entry into the health care system and access to a medical home
