officer on geology, exploration

etc.

Biladila Deposit 05 is the southernmost in the western

ridge of the Bailadila Range. The ridge itself forms an

overturned syncline with ferruginous shale outcropping

on both sides of the iron formation and iron ore complex

occupying the core of syncline. The structure is however

complicated by cross folding. The regional N-S Strike

direction with steep easterly dips, swings a few degrees

away to both east and west wards. Based on topography

and configuration of the ore bodies, deposit 5 is basically

divided into four blocks viz., South Block, Central Block,

North west Block and North Block. South Block extends

upto the cross section 11, central and North west blocks

extends from cross section 11 to 21 and the part of

deposit between cross section 21 and 31 is known as

North Block.

BHQ is occurring as mother rock, usually parallel bands

along the strike direction. Iron ore is formed due to

enrichment of iron by leaching of silica from BHQ by

supergene enrichment occurring as a main ore type”

Hematite’’ in soft (as Blue Dust) and homogeneous,

massive and hard and compact steel grey and hard to

medium hard blue hematite form. Mineral deposit is

meta-sedimentary stratiform deposit.
