Genesis 1:27c

MVGB Building LayoutWords to be familiar with...Complementarianism- Men and woman are created by God
equally in His image, but distinct in their roles.
Egalitarianism- Men and women are created by God equally inHis image and there is no distinction in their roles.
Our pastors' position can best be described ascomplementarian. The organization that best represents our
scriptural understanding of complementarianism is: The Councilon Biblical Manhood and Womanhood (CBMW). The statedpurpose of the CBMW has been since 1987: "to set forth theteachings of the Bible about the complementary differences
between men and women, created equally in the image of God,because these teachings are essential for obedience to
Scripture and for the health of the family and of the church."
Our Worship LeaderMatt Damico
Matt and his wife, Anna, have been at Kenwood Baptist Churchin Louisville since 2009. Matt became a Christian while astudent at the University of Minnesota, then moved to
Louisville to attend Southern Seminary, where he graduated in2012. Matt loves his wife, his daughters (Willa and Everly),reading, writing, watching and playing sports, the outdoors
and music.

Affirmations and Denials Cont.
Article VWe affirm that the shape of Christian discipleship is congregational, and that God'spurpose is evident in faithful Gospel congregations, each displaying God's glory in the
marks of authentic doctrine of the church. We deny that any Christian can truly be a faithful disciple apart from the teaching,
discipline, fellowship, and accountability of a congregation of fellow disciples, organized asa Gospel church. We further deny that the Lord's Supper can faithfully be administered
apart from the right practice of Church discipline.
Article VIWe affirm that evangelical congregations are to work together in humble and voluntarycooperation and that the spiritual fellowship of Gospel congregations bears witness to the
unity of the Church and the glory of God.We deny that loyalty to any denomination or fellowship of Churches can take precedence
over the claims of truth and faithfulness to the Gospel
Article VIIWe affirm that the Scripture reveals a pattern of complementary order between men andwomen, and that this order is itself a testimony to the Gospel, even as it is the gift of ourCreator and Redeemer. We also affirm that all Christians are called to service within thebody of Christ, and that God has given to both men and women important and strategicroles within the home, the church, and the society. We futher affirm that the teachingoffice of the Church is assigned only to those men who are called of God in fulfillment ofthe biblical teachings and that men are to lead in their homes as husbands and fathers
who fear and love God.We deny that the distinction of roles between men and women revealed in the Bible isevidence of mere cultural conditioning or a manifestation of male oppression or prejudiceagainst women. We also deny that this biblical distinction of roles excludes women frommeaningful ministry in Christ's kingdom. We further deny that any Church can confuse
these issues without damaging its witness to the Gospel.
Article VIIIWe affirm the Danvers Statement on complementarianism as published by the Council on
Biblical Manhood and Womanhood (www.cbmw.org).

God's Plan of Salvation
First, you have robbed God of His due glory by your sin.Romans 3:23 says, "All have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God."
Second, you cannot earn salvation. You earn only justpunishment for your sin of robbing God of His glory.
Romans 6:23 says, "The wages of sin is death, but the freegift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Third, God intervened with a plan of salvation. Romans 5:8says, "but God shows his love for us in that while we were
still sinners, Christ died for us."
Fourth, God guides you to believe and confess Jesus asLord. Romans 10:9 says, "if you confess with your mouththat Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised
him from the dead, you will be saved."
Fifth, God promises to save you when you sincerely call outto Him in prayer. Romans 10:13 says, "For 'everyone who
calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'"
Finally, there is no need to wait. Pray confirming these fivethings and asking God to grant His salvation to you now.
You can pray now!

Welcome to the Main Street Revival 2016 - Gender and the GospelHeld at 1717 N. Main St. Mt. Vernon, IN 47620
For Social Media #MSR16Web Info: mvgb.org/mainstreetrevival
Children are born without fathers. Would-be mothers choose not to carry their children tobirth. Sexuality is confused. Many who cry, “Lord, Lord,” seldom participate in church.Appetites are indulged in excess. Patriotism is on the wane. And politics has provided nogreat savior for our people. Now what?
Back to the basics. We have been driven back to the basics. Where can we turn, agree, and begin to teach our church members the way? Answer) The basic doctrine thatappears first in most orthodox theology books: The Doctrine of Scripture. Two years agoMSR focused on the Doctrine of Scripture, which is God's self revealed words. Thesegive definition to all other doctrines namely: God's attributes, the Trinity, doctrine of man, redemption, end times, and the church. Last year we explore the doctrine of the church. This year we explore the role relationship between man and woman.
Therefore, we propose a revival event. It is important to say what this revival is not. It isnot primarily about evangelism of the lost, though that should result as believersrediscover core truths of Scripture. It is not intended to be a preaching competition. Infact we will not be announcing the order of those speaking. Rather, we intend to teachcommon material. It is not designed to advocate church members shopping and hoppingto other churches. In an age of commitment-phobes, we intend to teach commitment tothe local church membership. It is not liberal or charismatic. We are not intending topromote love to the absence of truth. We reject the idea that one must speak in a foreigntongue to be saved or sanctified.
We will gather at MVGB at 6:30 pm nightly on September 25-28 , 2016 with a differentpastor teaching each night. Our primary target will be our own church membership rolls. We want a revival of sound doctrine among professing baptistic believers in ourcommunity. To this end, we labor and pray.
MVGB (founded 1873) pastors Matt and Curt. Josh at First (1945), Jim at Agape (1999),and Kevin at Calvary (1925) have been involved in preparation. We do hope the Lordallow our autonomous churches to share in this informal partnership, this learningexperience.
We are concerned about the tendency of so many Churches to substitute technique fortruth, therapy for theology, and management for ministry.
We are also concerned that God’s glorious purpose for Christ’s Church is often eclipsedby so many other issues, programs, technologies, and priorities. Furthermore, confusionover crucial questions concerning the authority of the Bible and the nature of truth itselfhave gravely weakened the Church in terms of its witness, its work, and its identity.
Article IWe affirm that the sole authority for the Church is the Bible, verbally inspired, inerrant,
infallible, and totally sufficient and trustworthy. We deny that the Bible is a mere witness to the divine revelation, or that any portion of
Scripture is marked by error or the effects of human sinfulness.
Article IIWe affirm that the authority and sufficiency of Scripture extends to the entire Bible, and
therefore that the Bible is our final authority for all doctrine and practice. We deny that any portion of the Bible is to be used in an effort to deny the truthfulness ortrustworthiness of any other portion. We further deny any effort to identify a canon within
the canon or, for example, to set the words of Jesus against the writings of Paul.
Article IIIWe affirm that truth ever remains a central issue for the Church, and that the Church mustresist the allure of pragmatism and postmodern conceptions of truth as substitutes for
obedience to the comprehensive truth claims of Scripture. We deny that truth is merely a product of social construction or that the truth of the Gospelcan be expressed or grounded in anything less than total confidence in the veracity of the
Bible, the historicity of biblical events, and the ability of language to conveyunderstandable truth in sentence form. We further deny that the Church can establish itsministry on a foundation of pragmatism, current marketing techniques, or contemporary
cultural fashions.
Article IVWe affirm the centrality of expository preaching in the Church and the urgent need for a
recovery of biblical exposition and the public reading of Scripture in worship. We deny that God-honoring worship can marginalize or neglect the ministry of the Wordas manifested through exposition and public reading. We further deny that a Church
devoid of true biblical preaching can survive as a Gospel Church.
