WEAPONS AND AMMO Q1: Can you drop a Bolo Grenade in your current area? A: You cannot target yourself or allies with weapons. However a Bolo Grenade targets an 'area', so yes you can. In a last ditch survival attempt it may be your only chance! Q2: Do you need to have at least 1 Ammo token to make a normal kill? A: Yes, even though you don't spend a clip on a normal attack, you still need some Ammo in order to use the weapon. Note: The Snub Pistol has special text stating that it can be used without any Ammo tokens, and the Lancer's special ability can be used without Ammo, although it can't be fired normally if you're out. Q3: Do game effects that mention Ammo tokens also include Grenade tokens? I'm thinking specifically of the location card in Emergence that gives you 3 Ammo tokens. A: No. Ammo tokens are Ammo tokens, Grenade tokens are Grenade tokens. Q4: The Mortar is the only weapon card other than Grenades that explicitly states in its persistent effect that it targets an area. In the Grenades rule is says Grenades cannot be used during a Guard action ostensibly because it is not targeting a model, it is targeting a space. Does this also mean that it cannot be used during a Guard action? A: The Mortar works exactly as it says on the card - namely that it can be used during a Guard action (because nothing says it can't), and that it can be fired out of range (because nothing says it can't). Q5: Can you use the Lancer's constant ability if you do not have any Ammo tokens? I assume yes (seeing as it's a Chainsaw), but this didn't seem to be explicitly answered in the rulebook. A: You don't need Ammo to use the Lancer's constant ability because it says "instead of attacking. Q6: The Scorcher says that you can't target figures more then one space away. But its range is one so why would it say that if it couldn't do it anyway? Or am I misreading something. The Mulcher is one range also yet doesn't have the disclaimer. A: You can usually fire a weapon beyond its base range, but at a penalty. Q7: For some weapons (Snub Pistol for example) the Omen result is a wound. Is this a normal wound result (which can be blocked by defense dice) or is this an automatic wound that is treated differently than the standard rolled wounds? A: It is treated as a normal wound result. Q8: Is there a limit to the number of Grenade or Ammo tokens you can carry? A: No, there is no maximum limit. Q9: You can't swap Ammo around between weapons, can you? A: Once Ammo is placed on a gun, it can't be moved. 1

  • WEAPONS AND AMMOQ1: Can you drop a Bolo Grenade in your current area? A: You cannot target yourself or allies with weapons. However a Bolo Grenade targets an 'area', so yes you can. In a last ditch survival attempt it may be your only chance!

Q2: Do you need to have at least 1 Ammo token to make a normal kill? A: Yes, even though you don't spend a clip on a normal attack, you still need some Ammo in order to use the weapon. Note: The Snub Pistol has special text stating that it can be used without any Ammo tokens, and the Lancer's special ability can be used without Ammo, although it can't be firednormally if you're out.

Q3: Do game effects that mention Ammo tokens also include Grenade tokens? I'm thinking specifically of the location card in Emergence that gives you 3 Ammo tokens.A: No.

Does this also mean that it cannot be used during a Guard action?A: The Mortar works exactly as it says on the card - namely that it can be used during a Guard action (because nothing says it can't), and that it can be fired out of range (because nothing says itcan't).

Q5: Can you use the Lancer's constant ability if you do not have any Ammo tokens? I assume yes (seeing as it's a Chainsaw), but this didn't seem to be explicitly answered in therulebook.

Q9: You can't swap Ammo around between weapons, can you?A: Once Ammo is placed on a gun, it can't be moved.

    1

  • Q10: Can you use the Chainsaw with the Charge action card? A: The constant ability replaces the attack, so it doesn't get the +1 bonus attack die.

Q11: The Mulcher limits the number of moves on your turn up to 2 zones. Does that include Dom's extra movement? A: During your own turn, It maxes your moves of any kind to two areas, max.

Q12: Is it allowed to use more than 4 defense dice?A: Yes. Don't forget Doomshield... +2 defense dice!

Q13: If a COG makes an attack spending a Bolo Grenade token, is the Bolo considered to bean 'Ammo' token. So I can make a 2nd attack/order step as per the text on the Active Reloadcard?A: Grenade tokens are not Ammo tokens, so this doesn't qualify for the Active Reload bonus.

Q14: Can a weapon like the Hammer of Dawn, or a Bolo Grenade be used on a Locust, if said Locust is sharing an area with a friendly COG? If it can, does that COG receive damagein either case?A: Yes and yes. If an attack targets an area (or wounds all other figures in the target area), a COG in the area could take damage.

Q15: When I use my last Ammo token from Mulcher to perform its overkill attack and I roll an omen, can I use this weapon again despite the fact that I have no Ammo tokens on it?A: You can't make the second attack if the first attacks uses up your last Ammo.

Q16: How does the Mulcher weapon card interact with the Follow reaction ability? A: You can only move 2 areas on your own turn, but you can follow for up to 6 (Dom + Roadie Run). You could look at it that on your turn you're setting up the supports and what not, but when your turn finishes, you've grabbed and gotten it into transport-easy mode, and thus are able to move further.

Q17: Is it possible to fire the Mortar using an Ambush Order card? The card says that you can move the Locust and then fire at it, but the mortar explicitly states that you fire at the area, not the model.A: Yes you can. Even though you are attacking an area instead of a figure and the Ambush card tells you to 'attack this Locust figure', it also mentions using Grenades, which are also an area based weapon.

Q18: How do you use a Grenade to seal a hole if there's no-one to attack? Can you just discard a card to spend a Grenade token and seal it?A: You use the Grenade to make an attack on an area, so you target the area with the hole (even if there is no one there). If you roll an omen you seal it, otherwise you'll need to throw another Grenade next time.

Q19: It seems that a COG can choose to activate an equipment marker or pick up a weapon while in cover, without having to remove itself from cover, is this correct?A: That's correct, as long as you're in the same area it's O.K.

Q20: If you roll, two single wounds and 2 omens with Boomshot, is that a total of 4 wounds to the target, plus 2 wounds to each other figure in the area? A: No. The target only receives 2 single wounds (due to the Wound Icons). The Omen Icons do not deal, any additional damage to the initial target, only to other figures in the area.

Q21: Some of the weapons wound other figures in the area. Will this affect friendly figures?A: Yes, be careful where you shoot!

ORDER CARDSQ1: Can you draw more cards than your max hand size when you play Sit Tight?A: No you can't. Max hand size is max.

    2

  • Q2: The Ambush Order card says 'move a Locust up to 2 spaces' then you get a free overkill attack. Can you pick a Locust, have it move zero spaces, then make an attack. Assuming you have LOS and range? A: The "up to 2 spaces" would include zero, since 0 < 2.

Q3: Can COGs discard a Follow card to follow Dom when he uses his Special Ability (if in the same space), and if Dom then uses an Order card to move, can other COGs follow him again? A: Yes, since the rules say you can use it whenever a COG figure is moving out of another COGs area. It does not mention that this movement should be because of a card. They will then automatically continue to follow him. So it does not cost an additional card, and you cannot chooseto stop following him.

Q4: Can you use the Scavenging Order card or the Ammunition location card to gain additional tokens on the Hammer of Dawn? A: If it uses an Ammo counter, then you can pick more Ammo up for it.

Q5: Lets say the 1st COG plays Teamwork, and the 2nd COG plays the card that the Locust loses their turn, what turn do they lose??? the one they must take for the 1st COG or the one for the 2nd COG when he will play his turn?A: It would have been the AI drawn in COG 1's turn.

Q6: We are playing a 2 player game. My wife plays Teamwork and draws a card. I now get to play an Order card. Can I play a Teamwork card, draw an Order card, and then my wife gets to play another Order card? A: You could, technically. But there's no benefit aside from simply replacing Teamwork with a different card from the deck; you don't actually gain any cards by doing this.

Q7: If the current player has a Sit Tight Card and is in the same area with a COG who is bleeding out, can they choose the suffering COG to draw the cards effectively reviving themand giving them two health? A: Not unless the current player discards a card to revive the bleeding out player first.

Q8: The 14A card says that you can go anywhere in the map you want!!! So you throw an Order card and you go wherever you want (in open stages only, correct)?A: That's correct. Any area that's explored and open.

Q9: Can I use the Chainsaw on three Locusts in my space if I play an Order card that permits me to perform three attacks?A: Yes, and I would go so far as to guess that the Order card in question was specifically designedwith the Chainsaw in mind.

Q10: If you use a card to either activate an area item, pick up a dropped weapon or revive a wounded COG figure. Does these count as playing an Order card?A: No, this is a special action. The mandatory Order card has to be played at the very beginning ofthe turn.

Q11: Can a player intentionally skip his Order step, then go straight to Enemy AI step? or must he at least play 1 card ?A: You must play 1 Order card.

Q12: If a COG expends an Order card and his action also happens to advance everyone to the next stage, whose turn is it? A: You continue from whatever point you were in when you changed the stage.

Q13: If you play Ambush on a Locust, can you take the overkill shot with any weapon you hold, regardless of ammo tokens on (or not on) it? A: No. You still need to have ammo to fire.

    3

  • Q14: There is an Order card that allows a player to move a Locust up to two areas, then the player gets to attack with his COG. I assume that normal rules for cover apply for the Locust? Or does the player not only get to move the Locust, but also decide whether to place them into cover or not? A: They go into cover if that is the norm for that Locust. But you can take the shot as soon as they move into your area, before they move into cover. You can do this with a Guard reaction but you can't with Ambush, as that is performed after you have finished Locust movement.

LOCUSTS AND AIQ1: If I'm in an area directly behind a Locust in cover not facing me, does he still get a partial bonus even though the cover is totally on the wrong side? A: Yes. As long as you are not in the same area as the Locust, it will always gain at least partial cover.

Q2: Do Lambent Wretches only deal damage to COGs when they die?A: Yes, LWs only damage COGs, whereas Tickers damage all figures in the same area when theydie.

Q3: Do Locusts take cover as the result of Order cards e.g. Ambush?A: If a Locust always takes cover when it moves, and the card only says that it moves and doesn't make any other stipulations, then the Locust should be in cover, despite any perceived "theme" to the card.

Q4: The wording of the Boomer's special ability is as follows: "Each other figure in the target's area is dealt 1 wound (limit once per attack)." Does this mean the actual target of the attack does not receive a wound, or that everyone including the target does? A: The target takes damage as per normal die rolls, everyone else takes one wound.

Q5: Can the player targeted by Teamwork take one of the simple options (one attack or two movement) if they discard a card which does not have the option they want?A: Yes. Teamwork would not restrict this.

Q6: So a Locust moves into my COGs area while the COG is in cover. My COG decides to use his Guard reaction and decides to use the Lancers Chainsaw. This moves the COG out of cover obviously. Lets say the attack fails to kill the Locust, will that Locust then take the cover my COG was previously in?A: No because a Guard is performed immediately before a Locust either 'moves' or 'attacks'. So at the move point it wouldn't yet be in range, and if you Guarded prior to it attacking, then its movement phase is over.

Q7: If an AI card activates all Wretches, and the first Wretch to attack causes a Wretch to spawn via its omen special ability, is this new Wretch also activated by this AI card?A: Yes, the newly spawned Wretch would be activated by this card.

Q8: If a Locust figure heals itself, where do you put the marker, in the discard pile or in the unused pile?A: In the unused pile.

Q9: The second portion of Event card 3/35 says "Then each Locust that did not attack moves (however far)". Does the second portion of the event apply to all Locust figures? Or just those that were named in the first portion of the event?A: All of the Locust movement needs to be considered.

Q10: There is a card that instructs Drones, Boomers and Kantus to attack, and then any Locusts that didn't attack move two areas and attack. What does the Berserker do with this card?A: Since it is a Locust and it did not attack, it will move two areas towards the nearest COG and attack, just like the other Locusts that did not attack.

    4

  • Q11: Do Boomers move into COG areas (risking being hit by their own weapons)?A: Yes, if a Boomer fires in his own area he can get hurt by his own attack.

Q12: If all your COGs move through a door into a new area, what happens to all the Locust in the area just exited ?A: They continue to be activated when applicable.

Q13: If a Locust is ordered to move x spaces toward a COG that is closer than x, does the Locust move through or stop on the COG space?A: They stop when the reach the nearest COG.

Q14: The Wretch card 6/35. If COG A is in the same area of a Wretch and COG B is 2 areas away from this Wretch, can I move the Wretch to COG B and attack him, instead of COG A? A: You could have the Wretch attack either COG since the card does not specify the 'nearest', andboth COGs fulfill the card requirements.

Q15: If a Wretch is in cover and is ordered to attack a COG in the same area, does it move out of cover?A: No, it attacks from cover.

Q16: If a Locust is moved as the result of an Order card such as Sit Tight or Ambush, does the Locust take cover after it has moved (if it has a Take Cover icon)? A: Yes, the Locust would then take any available cover.

Q17: During 'Horde Mode' mission, we killed the last enemy during the Locust Activation Step. We reset the map and AI cards, shuffled all the discards, and spawned new monsters. Do these monsters activate during that same COGs Locust Activation Step, or does the nextplayer start his turn? A: The game resumes from where you left off. The cards effect remains active, even though the actual card itself has been discarded.

Q18: The Wretch card 10/35 card says: "If unwounded, move three areas toward the nearestCOG. Then attack a COG figure in the area that is not in cover (if able)." So, if the unwounded wretch is in an area with a COG who is in cover, I take it nothing happens? Or does the wretch attack the COG even though he is in cover? A: It wouldn't move or attack, because it's already in the same area as a COG . You occasionally get a break from the AI - accept it when it comes.

BERSERKERQ1: Can the Berserker be attacked and Guarded against in the Belly of the Beast scenario? The Enemy card suggests yes, but the clarification in the rulebook says it cannot be attacked.A: Yes.

Q2: If the Berserker has to move to the nearest COG and it is in an area with my COG, is my COG the nearest one? A: Yes, a bad day for your COG! The Berzerker was 0 areas away from that COG, compared to 1 area away from the other COG. The one in its own area is the nearest .

Q3: When the Berserker attacks all figures in its area, do I resolve it like a grenade? I roll once for its attack, and then individual reds for the defenses?A: Yes.

Q4: Does the Berserker move only to the sound of COGs gun and grenade fire. I'm assuming that it would apply as well for the Drones too when they fire their weapons?A: Only the COGs.

    5

  • Q5: You can only kill a Berserker with Hammer of Dawn. Correct?A: The FIRST damage must be by a Hammer of Dawn. After that, any weapon will cause damage.

Q6: Does the Berserker damage other monsters when the card says 'attacks each figure in its own area, or only COGs?A: It hits every character, good and bad.

Q7: Does a Berserker charge ANY COG figure that attacks? Or only a COG figure that attacks the Berserker?A: Any COG attacking, the target area if a Bolo is used.

LOCATIONS, MISSIONS, & OBJECTIVESQ1: Who wins if the COGs accomplish the mission but all COGs bleed out?A: If all COGs are bleeding out, they lose the game (regardless of if they fulfill the victory conditions).

Q2: Map tile 9A: Does this tile have 4 areas, or 7 areas? A: There are only 4 areas. The "cracked" border is what you're looking for. Those other lighter lines on the lower right corner are bars on the ceiling holding a wall up, but not separating areas.

Q3: What happens if an objective flip condition is met midway through a COG move?A: Set out the new map tiles, spawn Locust, then finish COG move and move onto Locust activation.

Q4: In Scattered during Stage 3 the maps for the two parties become joined. At this point, there is no longer a Map Exit, but one long map with two entrances. General Event Card 4 instructs the players to spawn Locusts at the Map Exit. How should you handle it?A: Page 32 in the rules defines the map exit as "An area on the map that contains a door token." Since the door tokens are still in use (even though, per the rules, the maps are now connected), I believe that the reinforcements would spawn at the door on whichever map the active COG is on.

Q5: When playing mission 'China Shop' is the Berserker included in AI cards (general AI cards) that say 'each Locust...' or does the Berserker only respond to AI cards with Berserker in the title.A: Each Locust means each Locust, ergo Berserker is a Locust. So a card with "each Locust" also applies to the Berserker.

MOVEMENTQ1: Dom's ability allow him to move +1 area before or after any action. We were wondering: Can Dom move an area ONCE per turn, or each time he does an action?A: 1 move per Order card used.

Q2: Can you use a move action to get out of cover, for example to get LOS, and stay in the same space?A: Yes.

Q3: If I'm moving through a ? space, can I spend an Order card to activate it as I move through it?A: No, you cannot. Special actions can only be preformed before or after you complete an action on the Order card. Players may not perform special actions in the middle of resolving an action.

Q4: If I discard an Action card to follow a COG, do I need to follow him for the full movementor can I stop in an area even if he is still moving?A: You can follow a teammate who didn't start in your area, as long as he passes through your area, but regardless, you both end up in the same area.

    6

  • Q5: If I am using Dom and end my movement in a ? space (With the movement action being the last action on the Order card), can I both spend an Order card to activate the ? AND move an area?A: Yes, that is legal.

Q6: For diagonal movement, a blue line breaking up a corner will prevent diagonal movement, due to elevation change, but the blue line is treated like a regular cracked line for range, correct?A: Yes.

Q7: Are characters (both COG and locust) able to move areas diagonally? The rules state that they can move to any adjacent area which shares a cracked dirt border but this isn't to clear as diagonal area share a cracked dirt corner instead - does this constitute a border?A: Yes, COGs and Enemies may move diagonally.

Q8: A Locust moves into my area. I use a Guard action at the end of its move but before it attacks, to try to chainsaw it... but miss. Does it now enter the vacated cover since I interrupted it at the end of its move step? Or is its move step over already? A: You interrupt right before an attack, which would imply the Locust's movement has come to an end (thus if using the Lancer's constant ability, the Locust cannot enter cover since its movement has ended).

Q9: Does moving in and out of cover cost a move point? A: It doesn't cost a move point, but you would need to play a card that has a 'move' as part of the card. so you couldn't use blind fire to move out of cover.

Q10: It says when playing solo, you may use the card with the arrow "I think it's the reaction ability" on it as an extra move 1 space. Now does this mean I can do what it says on the card, and also move 1 space, or does it mean use this card in addition to another card during my turn for a movement? A: It's in addition to your regular Order card, so you'll be spending two Order cards if you use that ability.

Q11: Let's say you are not in cover in a space where it is available. If you play a card as a basic move, can you go into cover without moving? How about if you play a card with multiple actions, first action is a move, second is attack. Could you use the move to go into cover in the same space, and then attack?A: As long as you have a "move" command, yes, you can stand in the same square and jump into cover. If anything, almost all move commands are 2+ spaces, so you could just say you moved outone area then back one area and jumped into cover.

Q12: If a card says... within 2 areas move and attack and it is next to me, it just attacks but doesn't move right? A: Yep, it attacks. Within 2 areas means 2 or less areas away.

Q13: Can Dominic Santiago move before or after an action is performed, even if there is no move on the action card?A: Yes. So you play Advance (attack, move 3), he could move 1, attack, move 3 or attack and move 4. Or he can play Pummel (2 attacks) and move first (get closer, which he'll probably need with the Gnasher's max range of 1) and then attack or attack twice and move (fall back into cover).

Q14: If a card allows you to move "up to" X areas, and you choose to move 0 areas, is that still considered a move?A: No. If you don't use a "move" action allowed by a card, you haven't moved.

SPAWNINGQ1: Do you spawn a Wretch with every omen rolled on a single wretch attack?A: Yes. If it was limited, the card would say so.

    7

  • Q2: If a level ends in an opening that passes two areas, and Locusts spawn at the Exit, do I choose which of the areas they spawn into?A: Yes, you get a choice.

Q3: What if there are no Wretches, and the nearest emergence hole isn't within 4 spaces? My understanding is that I don't spawn any Wretch, but I suppose I don't even draw a new AI card, since the card doesn't say anything about drawing a new AI card?A: Nothing happens. No redraw. It's so rare, it actually feels like Christmas when this occurs once every blue moon.

Q4: If you cannot place an A figure in a scenario as they have run out, do you place a C figure?A: Yes.

SPECIAL ABILITIESQ1: Bairds special ability is being able to "Activate Equipment" or "Pick up Weapons" during his turn WITHOUT having to discard cards. I'm wondering if this also counts for reviving COGs?A: No it does not. You are not Activating Equipment, you are reviving your friend.

Q2: What's the limit of special actions per turn? A: Only one special action of each type on any given turn, for a grand total of up to three special actions.

COVER AND LOSQ1: Does a special action like grabbing equipment and reviving a COG take me out of cover?A: You can do any special actions, as well as firing ranged weapons and throwing Grenades while remaining in cover.

Q2: If more than one cover figure has just spawned. Which figure takes the cover first?A: The players pick who is in cover and who is exposed.

Q3: Say I had to leave cover last turn because of using the Lancer special attack. On my current turn, I want to re-enter cover but don't want to leave my current area. Can I simply drop into cover without moving?A: You have to move to enter cover. Period. If you lanced out of cover and want to go back in, either use an Order that lets you move, or any Order, and use it as a move Order (which is why Advance is a good Order).

Q4: Can I JUST take cover after moving or can I take cover after an attack if there's a cover space on the same area?A: If you play an Order card that allows you to move first and then attack, yes. But you can't move, attack, then take cover.

Q5: Do units block Line of Sight?A: No, only walls block Line of Sight.

Q6: May I play ambush even if I have not got LOS? So I move a figure (i.e. the Berserker) 2 areas, but cannot attack him? A: Yes, you may still move him.

Q7: What happens if a character is standing in cover and is approached/targeted from the open side of the cover-the back (not the side or front on)? Technically, there is no cover there.A: If the attack comes from the same space, cover does not count. Otherwise, (no matter what it looks like), partial cover = +1 red die.

    8

  • Q8: If a Locust is on one side of an elevated platform, but not on it, and you were on the opposite side not on the elevated portion, is there still LOS?A: There is no advantage to the high ground other than not being able to move through the elevated lines, making your route less accessible.

Q9: Two drones are near me and I am in full cover. I draw a Locust card and both Drones attack me. I Guard one and kill it. Am I still in full cover for the next drone?A: The only attack that takes you out of cover is when using Lancer's chainsaw. If you did a shooting attack, you're still in cover.

Q10: Say I'm in cover, and use the Chainsaw, which automatically brings me out into the open. Is the only option to get back into cover, to use a movement card to get me back in there on a later turn?A: Yes, you can play a move action to move 0 areas and enter cover in the same space you started the move in.

Q11: I move to an area that has 1 cover space and contains a Locust. I kill him. Do I go into cover? A: Nope, you can only enter cover when moving. If you're Dom and haven't used your ability for the turn, then yes.

Q12: Does LOS trace between levels?A: There are elevations, but not between "levels". Even then there's no LOS limitation. So yes, you can track LOS between levels once the door is open.

Q13: Are areas considered adjacent when they share both a cracked dirt border 'and' a blue elevated border? A: You take into account either a cracked dirt border OR a blue elevated border, never a combination of different border types at the same time.

REACTION ABILITIESQ1: Is it possibile to Guard against a Locust that is moved via Sit Tight or Ambush?A: You can only Guard during the Locust activation phase. The movement due to Sit Tight (or Ambush, for that matter) is done during the COG Order step. So, it's a no-can-do.

Q2: Is Augustus Cole able to Guard twice per turn when playing solo? A: No but he is still able to discard any card in order to Guard.

Q3: Can I use a Dodge reaction when my character is in cover, and if I can, is the character still in cover after the Dodge reaction?A: It's perfectly legit to use Dodge while in cover, and yes the character remains in cover.

Q4: If two Wretches attack my character and I want to use the dodge ability to gain +2 defense dice, does it only apply to one of the two Wretches, or do I have the bonus for the whole turn?A: One Dodge only helps against one single attack, but you can use one Dodge for each attack.

Q5: Player 1 is attacked, Player 2 resolves a Guard action, but cannot kill the enemy. Is player 1 then also allowed to play a Dodge action regarding the enemy attack?A: He may still play a Dodge card. The restriction is one Guard Order per activation phase (plus anextra if Cole is in play due to his special ability).

  • Q2: Who wins if the COGs accomplish the mission but all COGs bleed out? (e.g. if you drop a Grenade in your area and blow everybody up, including yourself). A: If all COGs are bleeding out, they lose the game (regardless of if they are fulfilling the victory conditions).

Q3: Can you crawl into cover when bleeding out?A: You may only crawl into a new area, not into cover.

Q4: If a COG is bleeding out, and is hit with either a Boomer shot or Grenade, what happens? A: Once they're bleeding out, COGs can't be hurt. It's enough of a penalty that all they can do is crawl one space, draw no Order cards, yet must still draw an AI card. Of course, if all COGs are bleeding out, it's GAME OVER, MAN!
