Your introduction includes THREE PARTS:

THESISYour THESIS statement is the most important sentence in your essay. In ONE SENTENCE, the reader should be able to tell your topic and your main arguments/proof. *It is ALWAYS the last sentence of the Introductory paragraph.

There are many reasons we need to limit hate speech.

I think we need to limit hate speech because it causes unnecessary violence, it is teaching next generations that hate is okay, and words can be more powerful than people realize.

Among the many reasons we need to limit hate speech the most compelling ones all refer to our history of discrimination and prejudice, and it is, ultimately, for the purpose of trying to repair our troubled racial society that we need hate speech legislation.

Body Paragraph 1: Topic Sentence
