Block House Vineyard
Block House Vineyards, the oldest vineyards in Napa Valley, were planted by Mountain Man, George C. Yount, in 1836, just after receiving the Rancho Caymus land grant from General Vallejo. The Block House name is derived from Yount’s first Kentucky-style defensive fortification west of the Mississippi.

The Yountville AVA has the most unique geomorphic combination of soils in the Napa Valley, comprised of both sedimentary and alluvial soils interspersed with sandy and gravelly loam, plus some clay. These soils and the mild temperatures allow the grapes to develop their unusual characteristics and expression of the terroir. The nine acres of Block 28 devoted to Sauvignon Blanc are set in a sandy loam soil yielding the greatest expression of this exquisite varietal.
Our Sauvignon Blanc offers not only the classic Napa varietal flavors, but promises hints of lemongrass, guava, and passion fruit, with a touch of grapefruit.

We especially like the description offered by Rebecca Murphy of the Dallas Morning news: Greg Gauthier “…shows a fine winemaking touch with this ethereal Riesling. It has seductive honeysuckle and lemon blossom aromas to lure you into the glass, where delicate green apple, pear and pineapple flavors are vitalized by lively acidity. It’s a versatile wine that will pair well with a ginger spiced stir-fry or a baked white meat fish.”
Planted in the early 1970s by Robert Mondavi, the Hillside Vineyard slopes gently toward the Salinas Valley and affords a majestic vista of the Sierra de Salinas mountain range. The ancient alluvial soils and long growing season of the Santa Lucia Highlands allow the grapes to develop to their fullest varietal potential.

Richmond Vineyards Napa Valley- Carneros AVA
Gauthier Select Vineyards2012 Napa Valley-Carneros Pinot Noir
Richmond Vineyards
The Richmond Vineyard, a three-acre gem in Napa Carneros, is located a quarter of a mile from San Francisco Bay and lies almost hidden among some of the most celebrated vineyards of the region. The proprietor, Mike Richmond, has been a pioneer in the Carneros since the 70s and his life-long commitment to the development and quality of Pinot Noir has made him a legend in the world of wine. I’m proud to call Mike my mentor and my friend. Working with this exceptional vineyard has strengthened our partnership, our bond of friendship and enhanced the Gauthier Select Vineyards wine collection.

A silky, smooth wine that embodies flavors of ripe cranberry, raspberry and a touch of tangerine hiding in the center. These flavors confirm this wine as a “signature” of the Carneros. Please enjoy it as an extension of the expression “In wine there is friendship.”

The well-regarded Rockin’ H Ranch in the Sonoma Coast appellation, where the Petaluma River gently winds between the San Pablo Bay and the Pacific Ocean, also serves as the source of our tiny production of Grenache. This is a wine poised to deliver the promise of Grenache as the next darling among California reds, but fear not, we’re not chasing tends here! We treat it with judicious winemaking that showcases classic Grenache character in the context of the Sonoma Coast terroir, for a wine that stands proud, on its own or at the dinner table.
Gauthier Select Vineyards2010 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Rockin’ H Vineyard
The brilliant garnet jewel color of the Pinot offers a visual statement of the depths of its flavors. It brims with roses and allspice, smoked cherry and baked cranberry, and a beautiful integrated ribbon of toffee and caramel. Try this Pinot with the always delicious roasted pork tenderloin medallions, spice grilled chicken breast, or salmon seared with freshly ground black pepper. Be adventurous and discover your own favorite pairing. Above all, enjoy this wine!

Our Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir comes from the Rockin’ H Ranch, where the Petaluma River gently winds between the San Pablo Bay and the Pacific Ocean. This location, with cool, foggy, marine-influenced nights and long summer days, is exceptionally suited to growing Pinot Noir that exhibits fruit and spice flavors, acidity and texture in perfect balance and harmony.
Los Chamizal VineyardSonoma Valley AVA
Gauthier Select Vineyards2011 Sonoma Valley Zinfandel
Los Chamizal Vineyard
The hills beyond the historic town of Sonoma embrace a small valley called Chamizal where grape vines are planted on terraces carved from the rocky slopes. It was here, in 1974, that Peter Haywood began planting vineyards that he named Los Chamizal, Spanish for the thickets of hardwood that covered the land. The soils range from well drained sandy clay loam at lower elevations to thin fractured basalt soils at higher elevations. The vineyards have a modestly

warm climate through the day, with the vines savoring cooler evening air preserving slightly higher acidity levels in the grapes. Los Chamizal is a sustainable vineyard, using permanent crop cover, compost and organic fertilizers to nuture the soil.
