GASGUARD 1
Automatic Gas Safety System Consisting of Gas safety shut off valve and Gas safety control panel
Ref:30429-0809
• Automatic testing of the down-stream installationto check that all valves are closed and that pipeworkand fittings are gas tight before each system start-up.
• Protection from accidental or intentional misuse by students or users.
• Short testing time, with automatic start-up if no leakage was detected fromprevious operation.
• Easy installation and wiring due to combined gas valve block design and pre-wired system.
• Easy commissioning and trouble-shooting using logic diagram.
• Remote control by BMS, if required.
• Function according to AS5601 when Fire Suppressant System is installed.
• All safety components are AGA approved.

Laboratory Workbench
GASGUARD 1 GASGUARD 1 safety system is to be installed on the gas supply to a college or commercial laboratory, school learning space, commercial kitchen, boiler room or similar installation.1
Example of application in a school or laboratory The standard GASGUARD 1 can be installed inside or outside of the room. A ball valve and pressure regulator should be installed upstream of each GASGUAD safety systems.
Learning Space
The GASGUARD 1 is to be operated by qualified or trained person with key switch.
Before each start-up, the GASGUARD will automatically check the entire downstream installation for leakage and for adequate gas pressure. The GASGUARD will only supply gas once all gas outlets are closed. If required, the control panel can be supplied with an integral Emergency Shut-off button or these can be fitted remotely.

GASGUARD 1 ‐Gas Safety Shut Off System Installation and Commissioning Instructions
Please read this introduction and the valve manual before any operation and keep in a safe place.
Warning: All the work set out in these operating
instructions must be completed by authorized trained personnel! Incorrect installation, adjustment, modification, operation or maintenance may cause injury or material damage.
Check delivery Check the quantity of products are match
your order. No visible damage to goods Check before installation Main power voltage, electric power
consumption, ambient temperature, enclosure, inlet gas pressure and installation position‐see label on the valve and control panel.
Valve installation position Valve can be installed in vertical position or horizontal position, but not upside down. The valve must at a min. distance of 20mm from any material whatsoevers.
Check the gas flow direction before fasting to pipe
Tightness test on the up and down stream pipe, shut off all gas appliances before starting the GASGUARD
Pe max: 50kpa
Caution: The solenoid bodies on the valves heat up during operation. Coil temperature depends on the ambient temperature.
Caution! Valve PeMax. is 50kpa, operating PeMax. is 35kPa.Any over pressure operation will cause unrepairable damage to the valves.
Caution! Do not clamp the unit in a
vice. This could cause external leakage. Only secure the flange by holding the octagon with a suitable spanner.
GASGUARD 1 Installation And Commissioning Instruction
www.systemcontrol.com.au
System Adjustment The bypass valve VBY and Pressure switch DG are pre‐set by manufacture.
Commissioning and Troubleshooting
Please see the file of GASGUARD Commissioning and Troubleshooting. Important! Before commissioning, the down stream pipe pressure must be released and all pipes must be leak‐proof.
Maintenance of System
Test For Internal and External leakage Check for any external leaking in the pipe and valve connections and the valve body. Check for any internal leaking of the valve, if so, change to a new valve.
Function Check Follow the instruction of Commissioning and Trouble‐ shooting to do the function check.
Control Panel Installation Wall mounting panel dimension and screw size see below.
Wiring GASGUARD prewired with 2m lead with 3pin plug for power supply. If no power point is available change to hard wire. 1m (Lab version) or 2m prewired cable with quick connection plug from the valves to panel, 2m extension cable is optional (L0200‐PC03).
Wire Selection
Wire size is Max. 1.5mm2 Flexible wire is recommended.
The unit MUST be protected from water and U.V.
For more details of valves and control panel, see the Kromschroeder product instructions and SCE wiring drawing.
Caution! In order to ensure smooth and
safe operation: check the inlet and outlet tightness and function of the GASGUARD every year.
Caution! Commission may only be carried out by an authorised fitter or authorised person. The unit may only be released for unsupervised operation once commissioning has been completed correctly.

Typical GASGUARD 2&3
GASGUARDOPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
- To be installed adjacent to the control panel -
1. Turn OFF all gas appliances and outlets which are served by this
GASGUARD
2. Check that the Inlet gas supply is turned ON
3. Turn the Key Switch ON. The WHITE Power On lamp will come on.
If the WHITE lamp does not come on, check any applicable circuit
breakers or contact your electrician.
4. Now, either the YELLOW or GREEN lamps should be lit.
If neither lamp is lit, reset any Emergency Stop switches or other
devices that are interlocked with the control panel. There may be one
on the top right of the panel and/or in locations remote from the panel.
5. If the GREEN, Gas On lamp is lit, the gas supply has automatically detected
that the system is good and you can use your gas appliances, as required.
6. If the YELLOW Ready to Test light is illuminated, press and hold the GREEN
button until this GREEN Gas On button is lit.
See below for the approximate time you must hold this button to
pressure test your system.
7. If the GREEN Gas On lamp does not come on, go to Step 1 and again check
that ALL gas appliances and valves are turned off.
8. If the above operations do not restore your gas supply, you may have a gas
leakage that must be checked by a qualified person.
