Mission and Ministry at Gary Church
*Call to Worship
With our whole being—heart, mind, soul, and strength—let us
love and praise God!
With all of our being, we will love and praise God! For God
is faithful forever, helping, freeing, loving, protecting!
Let us sing praises to our God as long as we live!
Praise the maker of heaven and earth! Praise God who is
faithful forever! †
*Hymn The Church’s One Foundation 545 (Stanzas 1, 2, and 5)
(9:00) During the hymn, children Preschool 3’s–Grade 3 are invited to come forward
to proceed with their leaders to the lower level for Kids’ Church. Children will
return to the Sanctuary during the hymn prior to Communion.
(11:00) Children are invited to worship with their families during this service.
Children’s bulletins and activity bags are available from the ushers.
Childcare is available for newborn–2 yrs., from 8:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the lower level.
Opening Prayer
God who is faithful forever, you are our God. We turn to you in
praise, for when our hope rests in you, we find rest. We turn to
you with our cares, for when we look to you for help, we find
strength. We turn our hearts to you in worship, offering love for
you and for our neighbor. We wait in hope. We bring our cares.
We offer you our love in the name of Jesus, who teaches us to love,
and in the power of the Holy Spirit, who inspires us to love. Amen. †
Confession and Pardon
You alone are our God, our hope and help, but we do not always
find it easy to love you with all our being. Our hearts, our minds,
our strength do not always seek what is worthy of our trust and
hope. Nor do we always find it easy to love our neighbor as we
love ourselves. When we find ourselves far from your kingdom,
draw us near. Forgive us when we fail and bring us home to you,
One whose name is Love. Amen.†

Morning Has Broken: A Study of Devotion May 13 and 20, in the Chapel, led by Vickie Austin
Each morning we have a choice in how we start our day. As Christians, we can begin our
day with praise and thanksgiving through reading the Bible, daily devotionals, journaling,
and prayer. Vickie Austin will facilitate a discussion around creating a morning ritual that
includes reading, writing, and prayer. Bring your own favorite devotionals to share!
