Profile I am a creative and analytical buildings professional with over 25 years’ experience of providing facilities management across all types of buildings, and across both soft and hard FM services. I have progressively sought roles that have developed my understanding of the multiple disciplines that contribute the staff and student experience within a university setting. A strong communicator with a passion for leading and improving front line operations that result in customer focused, integrated, and transformational performance which adds value to an institutions core business. Experience University College London, (Sept 2012 – Dec 2016) – Facilities Manager As a multi-site FM - to ensure a quality staff and student experience for merging research institutes (Inst of Education; Inst of Pharmacy; Inst of Neurology; Inst of Ophthalmology), across 10 buildings, and delivering centralised efficient services. In CDM terms to act as ‘client’ across multiple projects for works under £150k From October 2014 - to lead the UCL Customer Services Centre (14 staff) to develop consistent, integrated, and customer focused systems to manage the 40,000 annual service requests and 100,000 annual switchboard calls for over 200 buildings. To develop the teams and its systems to be the single point of contact and escalation for a community of 30,000 students and 10,000 staff members. From July 2015 - to expand the ‘Services Centre’ to include responsibility for Academic Timetabling; Teaching Space Quality & Design; Refurbishment and Maintenance programs; Conferencing and Events; and Inclusive Design. Delivered web enabled CAFM content to bring together all ‘activity’ on site through a single web portal allowing mobile ‘as live updates’ to work tickets. Royal Holloway, UoL, (Jan 2003 – Sept 2012) - Head of Accommodation Services To lead the development of integrated services that could be applied to all clients and all buildings during the creation of the RHUL FM Department which merged two separate ‘service areas’ (Estates, and Commercial Services). Responsible for 3000 residential bed spaces and 60 academic buildings to create and deliver a consistent, integrated, quality experience for staff , students and visitors. Cleaning; Waste and Recycling; Portering; Post & Print Room; Telephony; Customer Services Desks; Student Housing; Student Welfare & Support; Equality Act compliance; Conferences and Events. To develop the Accommodation Services ‘brand’ as being the single point of contact - responsible for the ‘customer experience’ across the entire campus. Obtained Hospitality Assured accreditation for all front line teams and represented College at ASRA and CUBO meetings and events. Development of a standard specification for all space types to inform cyclical investment and major capital projects across refurbishments; new builds (created 1000 new build bed spaces on campus); teaching and furniture grant bids; site wide signage strategy; conferencing and events branding; marketing of halls year round. Grew the RCS budget to fund investment in buildings – increased to £15m from £11m in 10 years through 99% occupancy levels and 3rd-stream income. Reduced the main account budget to £1.5m from £2.3m through cost reduction work and the streamlining of services. Successfully introduced the UUK code of practice and associated service levels agreements across all front line teams including non-FM teams. Delivered training and programs to fulfil the Colleges obligations under the Equality Act.

London Metropolitan University (Sept 1996 – Jan 2003) – Residential Site Manager

Responsible for a 450 bed hall of residence – responsible for all aspects of the operation to deliver on commercial targets across the calendar year. This role was under the banner of Student Services so included pastoral care; allocation of rooms; management of tenancy, head-lease and licenced contracts; and student disciplinary matters.

University of Greenwich (Sept 1991 – Sept 1996) –Site Services ManagerResponsible for teaching spaces; catering, security, cleaning, accommodation, waste, and reactive maintenance across 3 sites on the University’s Roehampton Campus. The role was to provide quality and customer focus across the hard and soft FM Services after the University acquired the site from Univ of Roehampton.
