SIP - Theme 1 Students Learning/Curriculum and Instruction
In order for our students to reach their potential and strive towards achieving the high expectations set forth by the Revere Public School System and the Garfield Middle School; we provide to our students the tools that they need to achieve their goals. We accomplish this mission by exposing our students to a wide array of programs, initiatives opportunities and state of the art technology that will both foster and encourage student achievement and success.
Theme 1
![Page 31: Garfield Middle School Sailing Toward Success](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062408/568136d3550346895d9e7227/html5/thumbnails/31.jpg)
Theme 1A Response to MCAS
In response to MCAS scores in specific areas and AYP concerns scores, we are identifying significant areas in need of improvement in our curricula that are negatively impacting our MCAS scores, especially in regard to the many subgroups that we serve. We are in the process of developing and implementing various programs, initiatives and incentives that we hope will in turn improve instruction, teaching and learning by better aligning our curricula to match that of the state’s frameworks. These changes will provide opportunities to teachers that will aid in improving instruction for all.
Theme 1A
![Page 32: Garfield Middle School Sailing Toward Success](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062408/568136d3550346895d9e7227/html5/thumbnails/32.jpg)
SIP - Theme 2Teacher Learning/Professional Development
As educators, we realize that in order to effectively teach and challenge our students; we need to continue learning and challenge ourselves. In order to continue to improve instructional practices, strategies, approaches and techniques; it is not only necessary and required, but imperative that all staff actively participate in the professional development process
Theme 2
![Page 33: Garfield Middle School Sailing Toward Success](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062408/568136d3550346895d9e7227/html5/thumbnails/33.jpg)
SIP - Theme 3School and Community Involvement
The Garfield Middle School and the surrounding community are working together to create a partnership of thinkers and learners. Through various programs, clubs, initiatives, opportunities and resources we expose and instill in our students the qualities and ideals of good citizenship and character.
Theme 3
![Page 34: Garfield Middle School Sailing Toward Success](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062408/568136d3550346895d9e7227/html5/thumbnails/34.jpg)
SIP - Theme 4Planning and SupportSystems
The Garfield Middle School embraces the belief that for students to reach their potential they need to know that they are in a safe and healthy environment. It is the goal the entire Garfield School (both Middle and Elementary) to ensure that our building is kept clean, safe and healthy for all.
Theme 4
