LarchLarch is a timber that is widely used for creating building exteriors, installation of footpaths and production of the wooden furniture, which is exposed to external influences. The service life of garden furniture that is produced from larch is up to 50 years. Even chemically untreated furniture that is produced from larch is rot, mold and pest resistant, because it contains special resin that is typical for larch, which acts as a natural antiseptic. This type of furniture is durable and moisture resistant - even in extreme environmental conditions. The fire resistance of larch is two times higher than of pine.
Siberian larch wood has a wide range of colors - from pale yellow to golden brown or even reddish. The material has a silky luster and a beautiful texture. Growth rings are bright and clearly visible from any angle.
Siberian larch is a coniferous plant; its needles are soft and drop off like autumn leaves. According to European standards EH 350-2; 1994 – Larch is numbered among the group of the most durable trees. According to Brinell scale, its hardness is 109 units, but the oak’s hardness is only 110 units. The larch tree has a narrow sapwood (1-2 cm), which is fully removed during cylindration that is why the cylindered trunk does not become blue.

No matter how simple and familiar seems the solid wood garden furniture we recommend to pay attention to the manufacturing conditions before purchasing. EKJU observes several important conditions when offering its products to the market. These conditions fully apply to the whole production process, starting with purchase of the timber, continuing with proper wood processing until the moment it reaches production facilities and then the finished product continues its way to the final customer. These are the conditions, which greatly extend the service life of wooden products, facilitate their installation and provide satisfaction while using them.
EKJU products are made from properly prepared, well-dried timber. Therefore, the furniture is considerably lighter, which is important in everyday use as well as its transportation. Furniture weight is an especially important factor in Internet marketing regarding minimization of costs associated with transportation.
Quality

EKJU manufactured wooden products are treated with high-quality impregnating agent Tanalith® E. It is water-based wood protective, which contains copper and organic biocides (azoles). Tanalith® E treated timber has a lasting protection against fungi, insects and termite attacks, during the contact with the atmosphere and the earth.
Treatment
EKJU products will serve you a long time if you restore a wooden surface regularly (once in every 4-5 years) with suitable product.
Maintenance and warranty
EKJU furniture is produced from natural materials, such as wood. It is processed during the production process and ready for use so that when reaching the final customer and facing the external environmental conditions it would be undamaged. However, over the years due to various weather conditions and sunlight exposure the treated wood begins to lose its original properties. This can best be seen when a piece of furniture changes its color, becoming gray. Despite the fact that the piece of furniture looks a lot different, its durability stays the same, as the impregnating agent continues to protect the wood.

If you want to restore or to change wood paint, we suggest you to turn to the experts, in order to do this with means that are appropriate for wood and external conditions. Look for information in the local woodworking tool point of sale or in or building material store. Consult a specialist, who will recommend the most suitable wood-processing tool that will restore both the original wood preservative properties and will give the wooden product a fresh coloring. The specialist will also inform you on the most appropriate protective product application method and suitable storage of unused product.
During daily production process, EKJU complies with the exact pressure impregnation technology and uses high-quality impregnation solution. It allows us to take responsibility for our manufactured product providing the final customer a 5-year warranty against rotting of the product.*
*Provided that the product is not mechanically damaged or subjected to unnatural conditions, such as the inappropriate use of chemicals, excessive humidity, heat, etc.

ManufacturingEKJU LTD has two factories, which together occupy more than 50,000 m2 of space, and provides employment for around 200 people. Productive capacity is 5,000 m3 of finished products per month.
The excellent quality of the finished wooden products is achieved by application of highly skilled manual work in close association with modern production technologies. Every EKJU product is thoroughly impregnated and maximally evenly processed. This helps both children and adults to avoid injuries or damage of clothing. Both visible surface components and those that are not superficially visible, but essential for the safe use of the product, are carefully processed. EKJU furniture is designed so that it would be safe to use and so that it would comply with European Union safety requirements.

EKJU can be proud of its modern and automated manufacturing equipment, which complies with today’s requirements and greatly increases the work efficiency. This promotes company’s rapid growth, its development and the ability to serve an even wider range of market in Europe and Scandinavia. Modern production equipment allows providing large-scale order production and logistics.
All furniture is made of timber derived from well-managed forests. Latvian trees, especially conifers, which are mostly used in wood processing, are a very good and favorable material for furniture production. The farther geographically the north the more the trees. This is due to the short summer and a slower pace of tree growth. As a result, tree trunks are straighter, with a higher hardness and wood products are much denser. The table made of trees that were grown in Latvia will not warp and will not lose the original shape.

Logistics and PackagingDuring 23 years of operation SIA EKJU have developed and worked out their logistics to perfection. The company manages loading and transport of hundreds of cargo trucks all around Europe every season. At the same time, the company respects and ensures individual delivery to end consumers of a single product purchased in the online shop, delivering goods to the specified address and exactly on time. Each product created by EKJU is perfectly crafted in order to ensure maximum ease of transportation. Already on the stage of design development options of packaging for the finished product are figured out for safety and comfort of delivery.

Forestation
EKJU wooden furniture is manufactured from well-managed trees that were grown in Latvian forests.
The forest regrowth takes a long period of time, regardless of whether it is restored in a natural way, or by human hands – planting or sowing new trees. Every year EKJU employees together with their families plant forests, thereby contributing to forest regeneration process. This is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certificate awarded to “EKJU” LTD, which confirms that forests, from which EKJU manufactures its production, are managed in environmentally friendly, socially just and economically viable conditions. Properly managed forests can provide wood for centuries, which is why “EKJU” LTD asks everyone to be responsible and respectful toward the green jewelry of the world – the forests.
All materials used during manufacturing process raw materials and all components of the finished products, including packaging, are intended to be recycled. Wood - energy production, polyethylene, paper and metal parts are recycled.
The old Latvian proverb says, “He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack”. It contains a deep philosophical meaning, which is important to our company and we always appreciate it - to give back the nature what we take from it every day. Wood charasteristicsOur timber is treated with a high-quality impregnating agent that provides a high level of protection in external environmental conditions. The appearance of mold and blue stains on the surface of the wood is completely natural. Sometimes blue stains appear immediately after application of the impregnating agent, but with time they disappear. The wood also can eventually lose the natural color and become greyish.
It is normal for the wood to swell when exposed to moisture. Under certain conditions, the original shape of wooden products can be slightly altered or even warped.
The structure of the wood, the location of branches and growth rings in cross-section are always different, depending on the type of wood and its characteristics. This gives the wooden product “naturalness”.
Wood is a living material that is why it retains its natural characteristics for a long time after it is turned into garden furniture. Therefore, the appearance of resin “pockets” is inevitable, especially in warm weather conditions or in direct sunlight.

Dry wooden products can crack, which shows a naturally uneven structure of the wood. The cracks may appear on furniture with different deterioration levels and age. It is possible to reduce the appearance of cracks and their size during processing of the timber, but it cannot be prevented completely.
