It has come to our attention that some of our high school students are listening to, and dancing to music that contains vulgar and defamatory lyrics. They are even able to download so-called 'clean' versions of these songs where some of the unsavoury language or swearing has been blanked out.

While it is impossible for us to monitor what songs our students are downloading, we do want to say that "as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord". That is to say, we will make it clear to our students that such music is unacceptable in this 'house' of The King’s School and we regard it as disrespectful and totally contrary to what we stand for (whether it is the 'clean' version or the explicit version).

We also request parents to engage with your children about the pollution of perversity that we allow ourselves to 'breathe' in. Pollution will contaminate us, slowly at first, but more and more intensely over time, and

will cause irreversible damage if we disregard it. This "pollution" can be the music we listen to, the tv programmes or you tube we watch, or the company we keep - they are all things which can form us to their way. There is an old saying that says “GARBAGE IN, GARBAGE OUT” that is so true. Let us personally and intentionally choose to expose ourselves to things that are true, noble, lovely, pure, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy.

A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.Luke 6:45

Kamv’Elihle and Nathan in Grade R took part in the Abacus Maths Regional Competition on 3 August 2019. There were 303 participants ranging from Grade RRR to Grade 10. Participants complete two papers. The papers vary in skill and difficulty. The first paper is done within 6 minutes where participants make use of the Japanese abacus and complete 40 sums which may include addition, subtrac-tion, multiplication and division calculations. The second paper is a 2 minute paper where children use their mental abacus to answer the questions.

We are very proud of Kamv’Elihle who received the Champion Award and Nathan Nemusombori who received a Top Achiever Medal. Congratulations!

The Gauteng Trials 2019 weekend, was truly a weekend to remember. The weekend started off bright and early on Saturday morning, where

the four (Wouter De Wet, Hannah Steed and Amy Ah-Shene and Lindo Khumalo) of us registered and got training right away. It was

quite an intense weekend which ended with sunburnt skins and sore joints and bruises all over, but it was all worth it as new friends were

made. Being representatives of The King's Tigers was a priceless experience. The weekend ended on Sunday, 25 August 2018 with an amazing achievement where we (Wouter De Wet, Hannah Steed and Amy Ah-Shene) received our Gauteng colours. We thank our school and our amazing coaches, Ms. Martin and coach Alexa, for allowing us to be proud to say that we are from The King's Tigers every time

we were asked and for empowering us to grasp this opportunity with both hands and reaping the fruits thereof.
