mission. Blessed are those who are awakened to their duty to those among whom they are born.” - Mahatma Gandhiji

Principal’s Message

Gandhi once said: "Education means all-round drawing out of the best in child and man—

body, mind, and spirit." As such, education becomes the basis of personality development in

all dimensions—moral, mental, and emotional.. This small Sanskrit phrase essentially

contains the thought and essence of Value Education that is relevant in all perspectives.

This very concept, when applied to the simple but refined approach of Mahatma Gandhi,

can provide us with a new dimension of educational development. As such, while analysing

the views of Mahatma Gandhi, we can examine his views under two main heads: morality

and ethics. Moral and ethical knowledge is the first point on which Mahatma Gandhi's concept of value

education is based. The Gandhian studies centre of our institutions inculcates Gandhian values to our students.

Dr.S.Nirmala

Principal

Patron’s Message Gandhiji made significant

contribution in creating awareness of

the political, economic and social

problems of the down trodden

community. He considered education

as a crucial instrument for elevating

the overall level of the depressed

classes. He believed that by

acquiring higher education, socio

economic equlity could be advanced. It is indeed a great

pleasure to mention that Dr. Ambedkar Studies Centre

contributes remarkably to instill young minds and also the

community a spirit of co operation and equality. Smt.R.Nandini

Chairperson

Secretary’s Message Gandhi strongly favoured the

emancipation of women, and he

went so far as to say that "the

women have come to look upon me

as one of themselves." He opposed

purdah, child marriage,

untouchability, and the extreme oppression of Hindu

widows, up to and including sati. He especially recruited

women to participate in the salt tax campaigns and the

boycott of foreign products. Gandhi's success in enlisting

women in his campaigns, including the salt tax campaign,

the anti-untouchability campaign and the peasant

movement, gave many women a new self-confidence and

dignity in the mainstream of Indian public life.

Gandhian Studies in the Curriculum

– Foundation Course

Gandhi and his teachings are today

assuming new dimensions of meaning and

relevance. The dynamic nature of

Gandhian thoughts and practices is leading

the whole thing to a new level of

acceptance by the world community.

Gandhism is thus evolving into an

integrated and comprehensive discipline

because of the great scope it offers for

application to a variety of field of

knowledge, have the new term “Gandhian

Studies” is primarily an integrated ,multi-

pronged approach to present Gandhi to the

world on the one hand and on the other,

know Gandhi ever deeper with reference to

the problems in India in particular and the

world at large are facing.

The main aim of Gandhian studies therefore is

to provide full scope in understanding

Gandhiji. Keeping this in mind, our institution

has decided to include ‘Gandhian Studies’ in

the curriculum in order to develop an

individual student and through him the society

which proved our institution education system

is a value leaded and not only a academic

oriented. The duration of the programme was

from July, 2017 - October,2017. The number

of students opted this programme was 750. It is

concluded that for the present generation more

knowledge on Gandhian values and thoughts”

should be imparted by introducing this

“Gandhian studies in the curriculum from the

school level to colleges / university level. We

all should understand the fact that though

Gandhiji, is not with us, Gandhism should be

with us which may help to combat the evils of

globalization high external dependency,

violence, atrocities and poverty. It is important

to point out that efforts should be taken to

impart more knowledge on Gandhian

principles, values and thoughts which would

pave the path for sustainable development for

generations to come with fruitful environment

and also to enhance peace and value based

society.
