COBBER LAST GAME RECAP Macalester 4 at Concordia 2 – Saturday, Oct. 14 The good news for Concordia on Saturday against perennial league power Macalester was that the Cobbers were able score two goals and stop their conference scoreless streak. Unfortunately, the struggling Macalester offense picked the wrong time to break out of their slump. When all the dust had settled at the Jake Christiansen Athletic Complex, the Scots had come away with a 42 victory.

Concordia came out in the opening 20 minutes and looked like they were ready to pull off the upset as they had several good scoring chances and were able to post multiple shots at the Macalester net.

The Scots however took advantage of their opportunities and scored the opening goal at 14:35. They would add another in the 33rd minute to take a 20 lead into the break.

Cobber junior Brandon Root pulled Concordia to within one goal when he netted his fifth goal of the year less than nine minutes into the second period.

Concordia was never able to get the equalizer and Macalester reestablished their twogoal cushion at 67:40 when Jake Rocke scored the second of his two goals on the day. That goal proved to be the deciding factor in the game. The Scots added to their lead at 78:32 when Mike Samuelson scored his second goal of the year.

Cobber freshman Lane Muzzana scored the second Concordia goal when he finished off a pass from senior cocaptain Caleb Husmann. Muzzana's goal at 81:30 was his second of the season.

For the game, Macalester and Concordia traded chances but the Scots were able to hold a 2215 advantage in shots. Both goalies made seven saves in the game. Macalester's Ryan Palmer made just enough stops to earn his fifth win of the year.

PEACOCK GAME RECAP (Courtesy of the William Penn SID) FayetteOne day after setting the school record for goals in a game, the Statesmen soccer team failed to produce much offense in falling to Upper Iowa in nonconference play Wednesday, 41.

Penn (78) scored at will in dropping Crossroads Bible (Minn.) Tuesday, 150, but had just nine total shots against the Peacocks.

Eli Bradley (Fr., Marion, Ill., Marion HS) tallied the lone Statesmen goal, scoring for the second time in two days, this time unassisted at the 3:09 mark to put his team up 10.

Unfortunately, that was all the offense the Statesmen would post, as Bradley was matched by Nik Rule (So., Idaho Falls, Idaho, Skyline HS), Brian Thompson (Jr., Chariton, Chariton HS), and Edin Sabic (Fr., Waterloo, West HS) with two shots each. Armando Irias (So., Baytown, Texas, Lee HS) also contributed one shot.

PEACOCK HEAD COACH: Chad Leonard Chad Leonard was named head women's soccer coach at Upper Iowa University in November 2003. He was given the additional duties of head men's soccer coach in January 2005. Leonard joined UIU as the assistant men's soccer coach prior to the 2002 season and also served as the assistant women's coach during the 2003 season.

Leonard began his coaching career in 1995 at Hilbert College in Hamburg, N.Y., located just south of Buffalo. He served as the head men's and assistant women's soccer coach. In the fall of 2001, he coached at Scio Central High School. Leonard also coached in the Scio Youth Soccer Program. Leonard earned his B.S. in Criminal Justice from Hilbert College, where he was a threeyear starter and twotime MVP for the soccer team.

Leonard and his wife Kristen have two children, Cole and Hannah.
