Faculty Support Team • What is it?

– Implemented to assist with marketing of Career Services workshops and events

– Team of faculty members who announce our workshops and events to their students

– Provide incentives to students for attendance

• Implemented in 2009

Faculty Support Team • What do we offer?

– Direct connections to employers who can speak to classes, schedule industry visits, or provide information of value to students and graduates

– A complimentary ticket to our Business Etiquette Luncheon– Priority scheduling for Career Services presentations and

class visits– Letter of recommendation or support for promotion and

tenure review or other faculty recognition opportunities– Special end-of-year event to express appreciation and

receive feedback

Career Bootcamp – 4-day series that covers:• Resumes • Job Search • Interviewing • Career Fair Students receive a certificate and gift for successful completion (all 4 days)

Senior Career Academy – Week-long program designed to help graduating seniors focus their career search. Focuses on:

• Knowing Yourself• Getting Focused• Networking• Career Success Students receive a gift each night and a certificate and gift for successful completion (all 4 days)

• Provide members with credit for coming to events and workshops

• Promote workshops and events to membership

• Invite Career Services to meetings for Career Development presentations

• Collaborate with Career Services on many events

StartSmart

• What is it?– Students who have completed orientation come back on

campus for workshops to assist the acclimation to campus• Past – Presented on and off campus jobs• In 2014 we presented Career Services to 240

students (EDGE program) – 200 of those students created LinkedIn accounts

• Future – Implement LinkedIn assignment in CSU 1022

• Focus – Student engagement through community projects that enhance learning

• Courses – Freshman to Seniors • All majors

EDGE

What is EDGE?– Targeted approach to increase student

participation in experiential learning opportunities – University-wide effort

– Series of initiatives to increase participation in career development during college years

– Ensure preparation for internships and readiness for careers and the work environment

The Major Components of EDGE are: – Infuse learning opportunities as much as possible

into the curriculum and what we already do– Construct and offer opportunities appropriate for

each phase of the developmental journey as students begin to focus on internship and career readiness

– Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to identify what works most effectively
