THE ANALYTICAL SIDE OF FUNIt´s february 2012 and we are about to finish our 2013 pre production testline setup so we can move to production- kind of late, but honestly I'm always a bit late… things need time to check feedback and new ideas come, so we are always on the run and thats what makes it FUN! Lets put the product to side for a second- and take a look back to last season. What impressed me the most: KSP tour in One-Eye Mauritius- epic conditions, INSANE riding level. I was fully stoked to see the action there. Strapped or strapless, it was off the limit. These girls and boys ripped so hard, I was blown away. Anyone who rides a kite should check this out to see the potential of what can be done on a kite!Beside the freestyle circus…. kitesurfing got olympic status!!! BIG news! Now there is a serious racing scene and a lot of high end development happening already!

Coming from paragliding, windsurfing and now working in the kitesurf business for 11 years, I´m still impressed by this sport. When friends ask, what spot is best, what conditions do you like most, i have to look back and really admit that it totally depends.Cross offshore waves on a reef can be epic, but sick sideshore beach break days are easier to find. I love blasting with a small kite and twin tip for big jumps- so much fun!!I guess this is actually what attracts me to kitesurfing- there are so many different conditions you always have the hunger.

FULL DACRON FRAME 2.0The next evolu-tion of our proven and tested Full Da-cran Frame. Every strut and the trailing edge is attached to a frame of Dacron smoothed with mark cloth tape to the canopy connection for unmatched resis-tance to wear and heavy loads.

GLUED TRIPPLE ZIG ZAGAll canopy seams are manufactured in Glued Tripple Zig Zag Technol-ogy. Seams get glued first and sewn after. This provides a perfect seam pattern and a stiff kite.

LOGIC V BRIDLE SYSTEMNone of our kites use pulleys. All bridles are fixed and provide a super stable and clean arc design.

NACA0018 PROFILESThe NACA profiles are airfoil shapes for air-craft wings developed by the NASA.

After extremely successful results in labor and real world on the water testing, we are proud to announce the new Gaastra TWIN SEAMS to all 2013 kites. This special construction uses two yarns of different material stitched in the same production step. This enables us to have less perforation in the cloth but 25% stronger seams. This next step in kite production gives an enormous amount of more durability, less dam-age to the kites and the option of more air pumped into the bladders for more rigid and crisp flying kites!

After extensive Research & Development over 7 years we are final-ly happy with our new canopy and have applied it to production. This new canopy comes with double ripstop materials to provide best tearing performance and minimal elongation. This results in bulletproof kites, significantly less damage which gives you more time on the water! This canopy sets a new benchmark in dynamic performance, it gives a very lively and direct character to the kite. Beside this we focussed on durability, as we want our kites to not just last forever, but also to perform perfectly forever, so we pushed the durability to the next level. To achieve this target in such an extreme sports environments with loads of water and UV punishment we decided to use two steps of coating in production. First the ripstop yarn gets coated before actually creat-ing the cloth. In the end the whole cloth gets coated again. The result is a bulletproof material, which performs perfectly when brand new all the way down the long term road. Even if the cloth coating is destroyed by serious abrasion, the rip stop yarn is still working and protects the cloth from ripping. A new Revolution from the Gaastra factory.

The Hatch is a our most stable kite available for any situation. It is our most versatile creation with agile handling and user friendliness that makes it a pleasure to ride in surf, booting big airs or going unhooked for the latest tricks. It is very easy to depower, has super low end crisp power delivery, boosts massive hangtime and makes your time on the water FUN. This kite can be used for free ride, wave or freestyle. The LE arc is optimized for easy relaunching to save you from swimming. It is designed as a 4 line SLE kite, has no pulleys and also has an option to use as a 5 line if desired. Sizes 3-11come in a 5 strut platform while the 13meter has been redesigned with a 3 strut concept to maximize the light wind abilities of this powerhouse!

This 6th Generation Jeckyll is without question the fastest and most performance oriented kite Gaastra has ever built. We improved the steering by using a straight tip shape and thicker diam-eter of the LE in the tip area. It turns super fast and flies through the window all the way to the extreme edge giving it insane upwind abilities. The extremely light bar pressure gives an effortless feedback to the rider. It has a very efficient de-power that gets rid of 85% of the power when sheeted out while keeping the steering characteristics alive. Even when depowered, the Jeckyll still obeys your commands. The huge sweet spot gives this kite the widest wind range in our line up.The Jekyll is a dedicated 4 Line SLE kite, but comes with the option to use a 5th line. The 5 strut skel-eton in fully segmented in construction, making the kite super rigid even in toughest conditions.

This traditional surfboard range is made to dominate a variety of con-ditions. Full down the line side shore blasting or light onshore riding. Our team has put these boards to the test and absolutely love them. A wide stance lets you control the board more easily in the surf and the fin combo makes turns a dream. Master shaper Harry Brehm cre-ated these boards to be user friendly for any conditions.

5’6’’A more rounded outline and sharp boxy rails make this board ex-cel in slow, mushy waves. Direct response comes from the perfect fin set up and a wide pin tail that delivers speed and keeps you moving in gusty conditions. Extremely versatile, this board is a win-ner!

5’10’’Large powerful waves are the perfect playground for this shape. It holds the speed better and brings control to the turns through the long Outline. More surface to the water means more grip. The sharp Boxrails from the Fins to tail makes it a very powerful Board at the cut back. The rocker provides maximum speed, even in gusty conditions. The narrow controls the turns to to cut the wave to pieces, throwing tons of spray!
