CORE GAMEPLAY LOOP(S) At the heart of your game you need to have a ‘Core Loop’

This is a highly repeatable gameplay system that acts as a basis for all other actions in the game

You can break the ‘Core Loop’ down into a number of components Gripping Actions - players will want to do these again and again Advancement and Feedback – these affect the players motivation and flow Stimulus and Emotion – use the emotional energy that players get from their investment to bring

them back to the game

Multiple loops are possible and allow each loop to feed another and whilst the main core loop should be strong and compelling these extra loops allow additional actions and flexibility to adapt to players needs

Don’t force the ‘core loop’ – if you have to force it then it is wrong
