Adbusters is a Canadian based pro-environment organization founded in 1980 by Kalle > and Bill Schmaltz in Vancouver, British Columbia. Adbusters describe themselves as ‘a global network of artists, activists, writers, pranksters, students, educators and entrepreneurs who want to advice the new social activist movements of the information age.’’ They have a range of posters which are really relatable and make people laugh or think about their life. The posters are like a reality check. Calvin Klein is a very well-known brand that sells clothing and cosmetics for men and women. What Adbusters did in this advert was take an average looking man and photograph him in the exact same way as Calvin Klein dos with their models. They even used the same effects and filters that were originally used on the ad. I think this is quite interesting, because you only see good looking and muscular men on any sort of adverts, which is very biased and rather intoxicating to people’s minds. However, on the other hand I do understand why they are doing this as at the end of the day it is a business and they are just trying to sell their products. Adbusters is a Canadian based pro-environment organization founded in 1980 by Kalle > and Bill Schmaltz in Vancouver, British Columbia. Adbusters describe themselves as ‘a global network of artists, activists, writers, pranksters, students, educators and entrepreneurs who want to advice the new social activist movements of the information age.’’

They have a range of posters which are really relatable and make people laugh or think about their life. The posters are like a reality check.

Calvin Klein is a very well-known brand that sells clothing and cosmetics for men and women. Their campaigns and covers are usually resembled by muscular and good looking men and women. If this advert was displayed as theirs, they probably wouldn’t sell as many products. Yet, by placing a fat an instead of a fit man on the advert, shows that these clothes are for anyone who want to

buy and wear them. And by putting a fit man on the original adverts, people with worse abilities and body structure will feel very self-conscious about themselves and their appearance. They will feel like they can’t use their products and will start to look for solutions. Sometimes that is good, because it encourages people to change their lifestyle and live healthier or exercise more to achieve the body that is ‘’acceptable’’ in the society we live in, but majority of people will get offended and simply fall into depression. By using a ‘’fat’’ man in this advert, is simply saying that Calvin Klein can be for anyone, but the company just wishes to sell their products and gain money from this. The fit men will simply be eye-catching and make you to look at the advert. This is something that Adbusters are

trying to achieve too, but they want to pass on a completely different meaning.

It’s quite easy to recognise this logo as many people have seen it. It is a Pepsi logo and is very common red, white and blue circle. Adbusters have slightly

re-designed the logo into a fat man, holding a can of Pepsi that has a belly button sticking out from under his red shirt. This makes me believe that if you drink Pepsi on every day basis, you’re going to look like that man. What the Adbusters are trying to say is very relevant to modern society. A kot of people drink too much Pepsi, Coca Cola and other sugar substance that makes them obese. This is due to amount of sugar these drinks contain. People contain a lot of sugars and don’t seem to want to stop or change anything about their lifestyle. I never have liked Pepsi or any sort of sugary drinks, because I just drink water most of the time as for me all other drinks make me even more thirsty so I just decided not to drink them for that reason. I think that people need to know the limit for their own safety. Adbusters seem to blame Pepsi for this because they advertise their product in a way, which seems to encourage more and more people into drinking it. They have used this opportunity to use a rather entertaining image of the Pepsi logo to show everyone what it does to you and what you can become if you continue drinking Pepsi on daily basis.
