G4S Boston Provides Increased Security after Bombings

Boston, MA: The G4S team in the Boston area is receiving national recognitionfor the outstanding work done in the wake of the terrorist bombings. The day ofthe bombing, G4S security officers were on high alert at banking institutions, colleges, high rises, hospitals and other corporate client locations because oftheir close proximity to the crime scene and surrounding areas.

Immediately after the Boston marathon tragedy, G4S officers helped clientbusinesses with lock downs, enhanced coverage needs and increased patrols.G4S provided one financial institution with security updates every two hours andmaintained contact with all sites and clients as needed. As federal and local lawenforcement expanded their search for the bombing suspects and orderedbusinesses closed, G4S Boston General Manager Donald Giancioppo reportedthat his office successfully added dozens of patrols and enhanced securitycoverage for new and existing clients. While "Boston Strong" has been aunifying phrase in the bombing aftermath, it certainly describes the way the G4Soffice team worked together during the crisis.

Best PeopleA Message from the President

In recent months, our exceptionalwork during hurricanes, floods, bombings and civil disobediencehas grabbed the headlines. I knowthere are opportunities every dayfor our special G4S people to dowhat their instincts and traininghave prepared them for as theyhelp our clients respond, react andovercome difficult situations.

Recently, I had the privilege of joining our team in Boston torecognize some of our personnel for their exceptional response inthe aftermath of the horrific bombing at the Boston Marathon. Asyou will learn in the story on page two of this issue, we were joinedby our customer leadership to say ‘thank you’ to the entire Bostonteam which is led by General Manager Don Giancioppo.

But our outstanding efforts in the wake of the Boston bombings areonly part of our G4S story this spring. Since our last issue, we havesent out many certificates of appreciation and recognition for a widearray of extraordinary performances and lifesaving activities. Itseems that as we continue to grow as a company, we continue toachieve great things.

Here at our Americas Headquarters in Palm Beach County, we arein the midst of an American Heart Association fundraising event thatwill help the AHA in its mission to prevent cardiovascular diseaseand educate our community. During the preparation for our support,we looked internally and found, at G4S, we have conducted morethan 5,000 CPR classes; we have 380 certified trainers and wehave saved 32 lives this year alone!

Just recently, I was told of the heroic team in Miami that ran into abuilding to save the lives of people during a potentially dangerouschemical spill. Their story is on page 11. I initially heard the reporton the car radio. When the news broadcaster said the securityofficers are being called ‘true heroes’. How did I know immediatelythat the officers were G4S?

Beyond our bravery and professionalism is often another kind ofG4S response to challenging situations. The story on page 10 aboutour team in Minnesota shows our devotion to customer service. The G4S staff helped our customer with the technical supportneeded to bring a new access control system online and on time.

These events and many more like them continue to define ourorganization. The people who perform these heroic acts are G4S.They perform these acts as individuals working for G4S and ourcustomers. Our training and recruiting programs, our CPO program,BPO and USO programs have delivered for G4S and our customersthe finest workforce in our industry. This statement is not a marketingeffort or an attempt to sell a prospect, it’s a fact. We enjoy the bestpeople in this business and I couldn’t be more proud of our peopleand our company and simply wanted to say thank you.

From: Private School Teacher

I would like to send a letter of gratitude on behalf of one of our security

guards, Eric Pryor. I had a flat tire and while I was fumbling around,

ineptly trying to assemble the jack, Mr. Pryor came and helped. More

accurately, he changed the tire for me because it was dark and I probably

wouldn’t have been able to figure it out even in broad daylight….Mr. Pryor

assembled the jack, lifted the car, changed the tire and reassembled

everything in a matter of minutes… Afterwards, I offered to pay him for his

service or at least buy him dinner. He refused both and he told me that his

real reward is being able to help people by being in the right place at the

right time. I told him I now know what angels look like.— Thank you

I am the night clerk at a motel inOklahoma City where Officer Todd Youngworks security for us. He seems to havethe ability to put an end to trouble beforeit happens. Many times, I have personallyseen Todd give freely of himself his timeand his own personal expense to helpothers. We had items stolen from a truck onour property and our surveillance videoshowed Todd going past the scene just 4minutes after it happened. The next night,

Todd reviewed the video (even though he

was not stationed on our property, but next

door to us) and saw a vehicle that may have

been part of the theft ring the night before.

That vehicle was currently parked at his next door location! So, he decided

to keep an extra good eye on it. Sure enough, thanks to Todd’s EXCELLENT work and dedication, they

never had a chance. Officer Todd Young detained them until OKCPD arrived. Thanks to Todd another

theft was averted, two thieves are in jail with charges of theft/burglary. This country needs many more

fine officers like Todd Young.
