As we embarked into the New Year, I began contem-plating a theme for my first article of 2009. First andforemost on everyone’s mind is the bad times ournation, and the world, are facing. Since this is theGOOD TIMES NEWSLETTER, how can I write about BADTIMES? Should I temporarily change the name of thenewsletter? That would really be throwing in thetowel - prematurely. And, that is not what Duro Dyneis about.

Focusing on the negative quickly runs through thewhole business culture. It happens both inside thebusiness, as well as outside. It can be damaging anddangerous.

I am writing this in-flight, returning from the 2009 AHRShow in Chicago. The show’s attendance was certain-ly affected by the down economy, but not as badly asmany of us expected. While we were speaking tomany customers and prospects from around theworld, no one had a good report about their businessconditions. It got to the point where I refrained fromthe typical conversation ice breaker, “How’s business?”The answers had been very negative and non-produc-tive. I changed my repertoire and instead began askingthe question, “When do you feel business in your areawill begin to improve?” This was a better way to movethe conversation onto more positive and productivesubjects, especially how Duro Dyne can help.

At the show, we were featuring new products that willassist our distributors in filling in some of the gapscaused by the decline in construction markets. Theseproducts are all designed to make the job easier for thecontractors, while saving precious labor dollars.

These products are:

• KV Bracket

• Dyn-O-Wrap Dispenser

• Remote Diffuser Damper

• Self Stick Access Door

Duro Dyne’s entire team of Sales Professionals is readyto show you and your personnel these new items andto demonstrate their benefits to the sheet metal con-tractor. We are always available to provide informationand guidance with our exhaustive stable of time-testedand reliable products that the industry has always rec-ognized it can count on.

I look forward to a speedy economic recovery. In themeantime, Duro Dyne will continue, as always, to workon more ways to fill the gapsand make the best of thesedifficult times.

Dear Mr. Vasquez:I am writing to Duro Dyne to let you know how much I

appreciated the help that I received from your employee,Mr. Louis Scarpa. Mr. Scarpa was instrumental in helpingme diagnose and correct a problem that I had with theDuro Zone, Model SMZ Zone Control System, in my house.Mr. Scarpa was able to help me, as a homeowner, throughthe use of the telephone and his communications skill, technical expertise and his knowledge of the SMZ system.

I realize that by correcting the problem with the SMZsystem with Mr. Scarpa’s help, I avoided the expenseof calling a local heating contractor. I appreciatethat very much. However, to me the most importantpart of the repair was something more intangiblethan saving the repair bill.

It is for these reasons that I feel that Mr. Scarpa is sospecial and important to your company. He is able tocommunicate very complex ideas to non-technicalcustomers. His help to me has made your productmore meaningful to me and my family. I believe youare blessed to have an employee like him work for you.

Very Sincerely,C.D.M.

Duro Dyne is proud to have a Technical Supportteam with the quality, ability and talent that wemaintain. Along with their impressive skills,Willy’s tenure with Duro Dyne will soon reach 16years. James’ expertise has been 12 years in themaking. Tima started with Duro Dyne in 2004

and Louis will reach his three-year mark thisspring. All in all, we have 36 years of solidDuro Dyne technical experience toenthusiastically offer our customers.
