Our local phenom is on fire! For those of you who haven't read the articles released recently on Amari here is the short story. Amari has had quite the summer, the 2 notable finishes being a solo 3rd at the Junior PGA Championship followed just weeks later by winning the California Women's Amateur Championship in dominating fashion! In the event Amari really showed her prowess defeating not only some of the best amateurs in golf but even former LPGA contenders! Amari received notice from the Southern California Golfers Association on the 24th of August and she couldn't be happier! A message from the SCGA. "…On behalf of all of us at the SCGA, congratulations on earning the 2019 SCGA Women's Player of the Year award! You've had an amazing year, capped off with your win at the California Women's Amateur Championship and are very deserving of this prestigious award. We are proud and honored to have you as our Player of the Year… congratulations on all of your success!." Amari will be the second women deemed player of the year since the SCGA started recognizing this accolade for women. Amari will join the list with notables such as Rickie Fowler, Tiger Woods, and Patrick Cantlay. We here at the club echo the words of the SCGA and couldn' t be prouder of your accomplishments!

What an incredible event! Over the three days of competition we had 95 members play in 92 matches over 5 rounds of golf in order to crown the winner. In past years the race has always been tight but the Inside the gates team w a s l o o k i n g t o d e t h r o n e t h e Outside the Gates team after their loss last year.

Team Captains

· Mike Perdue

We would like to take a second to thank the captains who took time out of their busy schedule to help coordinate this event and make it a success!

· Greg Corlin

Following competition on the first day, the Outside the Gates led by 2 points, this lead didn't hold tight for very long though. The Inside the gates went 11 ½-6 ½ in the morning and only went 6-8 in the afternoon to take the lead going into the final day by one point! Ultimately, the Outside the gates side took charge on our final day and took home the hardware by one point! Thank you to everyone who participated this week and made it such a special event!

GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT - BRIAN YOUNG

We are just about 3 weeks out from aerification and the greens have healed well. I am proud of my staff and am happy to deem our fall maintenance an overall success! The tees were a focal point heading into the project and took the majority of the beating, they will need some time to fully heal. Every once in a while, we will lightly top dress the tees to firm up and improve the playing area in the coming weeks. During the month of October, we will begin f e r t i l i z i n g t h e r o u g h primarily around the greens, primary rough around the fairways, and high traffic areas. This will help with winter playability as the grass slowly goes dormant. We have already begun seeding and fertilizing some areas around greens and we ask if you see these areas to avoid them for the time of being or until the ropes are lifted to allow for foot traffic. Heading into fall we will need the memberships help

in managing some of the cart t r a f f i c . W h i l e w e w i l l continue to rope off problem areas it is impossible for us to rope off everything. We ask that you please use c a u t i o n w h e n d r i v i n g around roped areas and to please keep the carts off the

g r e e n s u r r o u n d s . B e observant and use discretion when driving on weaker areas such as 4 fairway. This hole is doing better than it has in years past but will most likely need to be cart path only for the winter months.
