Construction on the estimated

$2 million dollar Hurley

Children’s Center, located on

the second floor of the Flint

Farmers’ Market, has been

completed.

The new center combines a

fun, colorful, kid-friendly

design with state-of-the-art

care and technology. It totals

10,300 square feet and

encompasses 12 pediatric

specialty clinics, 24 exam

rooms, a lab, an innovative

teaching area and much more.

Future plans also include

Hurley Children’s Center Opens at Flint

Farmer’s Market

having prescriptions delivered

to the center from the H-Care

pharmacy located at Hurley

Medical Center.

The project is a collaborative

effort of Hurley Children’s

Hospital and the Uptown

Reinvestment Corporation

(URC), which operates the

Flint Farmers’ Market. The

Charles Stewart Mott

Foundation has provided

$1 million in funding for the

project through grants to the

Foundation for the URC.

right processes in place. It

seemed that everyone had

their own way of training

people and it usually wasn’t

the correct way. Now there is

only one way and everyone

gets trained the same way

each and every time. This

alone cut their turn over

expense in half and when

finished they all were on the

same page. Since then

everyone understood their

jobs better, productivity

increased, and less employees

left the company because of

it. They are now working with

Their

employee

turn-around

rate had

gotten out of

hand. Each

new hire cost the company on

average $4,000-$6,000, just to

get them up to par. It seemed

though, as soon as they got

one trained, another would

leave. Something had to be

done about the revolving door

installed in their HR

department; their start-up

costs were killing them.

The business needed help and

that’s when they called MCA

of Grand Blanc. In a short

period of time MCA was able

to find the issues and help

solve them by putting the
