Strategy Guide for Furion, the Prophet

    INTRODUCTION

Hey everybody, I'm ultimapanzer and this is my first guide. In this guide, I hope to cover thebasic aspects of playing Furion to his fullest extent, as well as covering the basic aspects of thetechnique known as "jungling." Jungling has become rather popular recently, and I'd like to showthat Jungle Furion is not only a rather viable upper-level strategy, but can be quite effective inlower-level play as well. Also, it's just really fun.

    Quick Reference

If you have absolutely no idea wtf jungling is, take a look at DarkMilkShake's Jungling Guide.

Neutral creeping is the basis of jungling. In order to use this guide effectively, it's important tohave a good understanding of the neutral creeps in the game. I highly suggest that you readMrX's Neutral Creep guide, which is not only Premium and reeks of good quality, but is justbadass.

Important Note: From now on, Furion's Treant summons will be referred to as Tr33z, andaccompanied by apiney-fresh scent. If for some reason you don't like it, I kindly ask that you gofornicate yourself with an iron rod. Thank you.

SproutSprouts a ring of trees around an enemy unit, trapping it in place.

    Level 1 - Lasts for 3 secondsLevel 2 - Lasts for 3.75 secondsLevel 3 - Lasts for 4.5 seconds

    Level 4 - Lasts for 5.25 seconds

Cooldown: 11 seconds at all levels

    Level 1: 115 manaLevel 2: 140 manaLevel 3: 165 manaLevel 4: 205 mana

Sprout creates a ring of trees around a target enemy/ally. (For casting Sprout on allies, see theAdvanced Strategy section.) Sprout is basically a way to deter your enemies, instead of a more"traditional" disable. The trees stop the enemy from moving, but he can still use spells and attackif he's ranged. Heroes can blink in and out of the trees, and windwalking enemies can simply turninvisible and wait for the trees to go away. Sprout is useful to initiate ganks, and to keep low HPenemies from getting away.

Tangoes are an annoying counter to this skill. However, it takes a Sprouted enemy time to realizehe's being ganked, click a tree to eat, and then walk through the small hole he just made. Byusing Sprout, you just bought you and your ganking teammates a few more hits on the gankee, which is what this skill is for. But still, try to use Sprout on enemies that don't have Tangoes on

    them.

TeleportTeleports to any explored point on the map.

    Cooldown: 60/50/40/30 seconds

    Level 1: 50 manaLevel 2: 45 manaLevel 3: 40 manaLevel 4: 35 mana

Teleport gives you amazing map-control. It's basically a free, faster Boots of Travel that lets you

teleport to ANY explored location. Use it for ganking, farming, running away, quick fountaintrips, defending... It's just great. Note that the location you click to teleport to will be marked byapurple swirly-thing that your enemies can see, and Furion has a channeling time when usingthe skill. So it's usually recommended to Teleport to/from a place out of the enemy's sight. For anadvanced technique to create fear in your enemies, see the Fake Teleport section under AdvancedStrategy.

    Force of Nature

Converts an area of trees into Treants. Treants have 550 hit points and deal 21-23 damage.

    Level 1 - Raises 2 Treants for 60 secondsLevel 2 - Raises 3 Treants for 60 secondsLevel 3 - Raises 4 Treants for 60 secondsLevel 4 - Raises 5 Treants for 60 seconds

    Cooldown: 37 seconds

Costs 160 mana at all levels

(Note: as of 6.46b, a bug in the stats for the Treants has been fixed. They now have the stated

550 HP and deal 21-23 damage correctly. Yesss)

In typical Furion builds, this skill is taken last. Ignored. In my build, this skill defines you.Depending on its level Force of Nature summons 2-5 Tr33z, clearing out a patch of real trees inthe process. YourTr33z are used early and mid game for phast pharming in the jungle, and totank damage for you. While the early-level Tr33z require a great deal of micro to be usedeffectively, at later levels they can farm some of the lower level creep camps alone, while you gooff ganking. I'll discuss more advanced strategies and uses of Force of Nature later in the

    Strategy section.

Wrath of NatureSummons damaging energy to swath around the map and damage random enemies. Each enemyhit beyond the first adds 7% damage. Number of bounces increases per level.

    Level 1 - Deals 140 base damageLevel 2 - Deals 180 base damageLevel 3 - Deals 225 base damage

    Cooldown: 90/60/60 seconds

    Level 1: 200 mana

    Level 2: 380 manaLevel 3: 610 mana

Wrath of Nature randomly hits visible units across the map. However, unlike similar bouncingspells, Wrath adds more damage with each bounce. The unit that gets hit first takes the leastamount of damage, and the unit that gets hits last takes the most damage. If you're wanting to hitthe hero in your lane, always use it on a creep first. If the hero is with low HP, it could even grabyou a kill.

This is your pharming skill. Unlike all other ultimates, Wrath should be spammed incessantly, tryto use it immediately whenever it's ready. This skill will make enemy rice-farmers Tr33-greenwith envy.

    5/16

Force of Nature is leveled first obviously; yourTr33z allow you to jungle, and that's what thisguide is all about. Level 1 Sprout lasts an absurdly long amount of time, and you won't be able tosupport the mana cost of higher levels until late game. Finish leveling it from 17-19, and takestats the rest of the way. Teleport is infinitely useful, and should be leveled immediately afterForce of Nature. I take level 1 Teleport before level 1 Sprout for an early fountain trip. TakeWrath of Nature immediately.

    Core Item Build

    1) Ring of Basilius - 500

    2) Eul's Scepter of Divinity - 2,800

    3) Power Treads - 1,530

    4) Vitality Booster - 1,100

    5) Guinsoo's Scythe of Vice - 2,375

    Total Cost - 8,305

    Core Item Build Justification

Furion is all about the RoB, it gives him all he needs to start off with. Ring of Basilius

dramatically increases your farming abilities with the added regen, and the armor aura helps youand yourTr33z tank like crazy, so this item is your first priority. Since you'll be sticking aroundthe base for a while early on, you can grab a couple of Clarity Potions to help you regen faster.Boots are a no-brainer, I suggest getting immediately after your RoB because I personally haterunning around all slow-like. You're going to be roving the creep camps, you need speed.

Eul's is your next item, a core item on Furion. Eul's gives you regen, damage, and mana to spamyour spells, as well as 6 Cyclone charges, handy for ganking, disabling and escaping. You willturn this item into a Guinsoo later.

  • 8/14/2019 Furion the Prophet

    6/16

Power Treads are perfect on Furion. You already have that imba 30-second Teleport, and Treadsare the cheapest IAS-per-gold item in the game. Vitality Booster helps out with Furion'slaughably low HP. It gives +250 HP, which is equal to roughly 13 strength, 1 more strength thantwo bracers. Vitality Booster is better than 2 Bracers because it takes up less inventory space willbe used later. The order in which you get these last two items is up to you; if you need the IAS,get Treads first, if you are getting owned because of your low HP grab Vitality Booster. Blowthrough your Cyclone Charges.

Guinsoo comes really quickly and is easily farmed; get it next. You should have tried to use all ofyour Cyclone charges, but if not don't worry, Guinsoo is more important. Guinsoo gives youeverything you need: Damage, Mana, Regen and a reliable disable. The ability to Sprout, Hex,Sprout during a gank is just dandy. This item is a must.

These are the Core Items. I have designed this build to be made up of cheap, easily farmablepieces; therefore you should have no trouble obtaining all of these items by mid game.

    Alternate Necrobook Build

    1) Ring of Basilius - 500

    2) Necronomicon Lv3 - 5,350

    3) Power Treads - 1,530

    Total Cost - 7,380

    Alternate Item Build Justification

This is an alternate build, that can be quite effective if no one else on your team is going to getNecrobook. The key to a strong Necrobook is to get it quick, and Furion can do this extremely

well. The intelligence gained is almost as much intel as from Guinsoo, and the strength gaingives you 266 HP, more than 2 bracers or a Vitality Booster.

Necrobook gives you two little summons. The total benefits include an Attack and Movementspeed aura, manabreak, and a Mana Burn. At Level 3, The blue summon has True Sight, whichyou can use to hunt down invisible enemies or kill wards. To effectively use this build you haveto be able to micro, the term DotA players use for how well a player can control his unit/units.In other words you have to be able to control not only Furion, but your two little summons. Ill

cover the aspect of microing in more detail in the Strategy section.

    Completing the Core Build

    1) Heart of Tarrasque - 5,500Furion has major HP issues mid to late game. So after Guinsoo (or Necrobook Lv3), save up fora Messerschmidt's Reaver and finish up HoT. It adds a hefty amount of HP regen, but the realselling point is the 965 HP it gives. HoT solves Furion's HP issues very nicely, and I recommendgetting it next.

    2) Manta Style - 5,500This item has great synergy with Furion, making him a DPS machine. Furion's great statscombined with the items you will have bought before Manta Style make for tough, damage-dishing images. The purge from Diffusal Blade, the first step in making the item, is extremelyuseful in both ganking, as well as removing pesky buffs from annoying enemies. Purge also takesout Warlock's Infernal summon. Don't be stingy and use all of your purge charges beforefinishing Manta Style.

    Completed Core Item Build

    Ring of Basilius - 500

    Power Treads - 1,530

    Guinsoo's Scythe of Vice - 5,175

    Heart of Tarrasque - 5,500

    Manta Style - 5,500

    Total Cost 18,205

    Completed Necrobook Build

    Ring of Basilius - 500

    Necronomicon Lv3 - 5,350

    Power Treads - 1,530

    Heart of Tarrasque - 5,500

    Other Items

In most games, if your team is playing well and pushing properly, the above items should beenough for you to pwn. However, if the game is going on really long, or youre farming

extremely well (orboth), get one of these items next. If youstillhave money, grab another one.

Buriza-do-Kyanon - 6,200Buriza is RAPE on Furion. Three uber tanking Furions with over 3000 HP, Feedback, 2 disables

    9/16

    and a Crit? GG.

Eye of Skadi - 7,050If you have the cash, Eye of Skadi is just awesome. The stats boost your survivability anddamage, and the slow just helps you lock down on enemy heroes even more.

Assault Cuirass - 6,320Amazing DPS and survivability. Great synergy with HoT, getting this item makes your imagesstronger and lets you crank out damage.

    Items Not to Get

Aghanims ScepterThe big one. I know a lot of people like the Aghs farming build. I dont. Heres why. Sure thesoul booster helps your survivability, and the intel gives you damage and mana, blah blah. Butthe Scepter only increases your already uber-farming ultimate. When it comes time for teambattles, what are you going to do, stand there and farm things? You should be disabling shit.

Bottom line: Furions ultimate is already rape. My item build focuses on making him even morerapetastic, not just improving an ultimate that is used for farming.

DagonDont get Dagon. Sure it helps you kill steal, or as I like to call it, kill assist. But there aremuch better items to be grabbing early on, and Dagon gets turns into a weak piece of shit prettyfast. Bottom line: Its going to slow you down and take up valuable space later on.

    STRATEGY

    Early game

    Levels 1-5

  • 8/14/2019 Furion the Prophet

    10/16

Get a Ring of Basilius first. The regen helps you spam yourTr33z, and the armor aura helpsthem tank. At around 1:30, summon yourTr33z from the forest next to your fountain and sendyour summons to the nearest creep camp while Furion regenerates his mana. If you have thecash, grab a Clarity Potion or two, and then send Furion in after your summons. Force of Naturehas a 37 second cooldown, and lasts for 60 seconds. This way, once the neutrals spawn at 2:00,you'll be able to summon your second wave ofTr33z only 7 seconds later. Make sure that noneyour units do not have sight of the camp before the 2:00 mark. Just micro your little dudes asdescribed in the Advanced Strategy section, and use a Clarity when your mana gets low whenyou are sure you won't be targeted by the Neutrals.

You can use your teleport to go back to base to buy items if you need to. When you hit level 4,see if there are any gank opportunities. Talk with your allies, and ping the mini-map. Eitherteleport to a lane, or just walk to the lane next to your forest. An allied stun coupled with yourSprout usually means a First Blood.

Focus on farming. At level 5, you summon 4 Tr33z, and should be able to handle any of the

normal creep camps, just keep microing. They also clear out a substantially large section of trees.Later I'll demonstrate with screens some of the best places to summon from. Remember tooccasionally send one of your little guys to check the rune spot in the river. Remember, runesspawn at either the west or east side of the river every two minutes, but only one rune will bethere at a time. A good rune could mean it's time for another gank.

    Necrobook Build :

Early game with the Necrobook Build is exactly the same. Instead of buying the pieces for Eul's,just buy your Necrobook parts and farm up for the recipe. Only gank when you have a clearopportunity and allied support: your main task is to farm up the book as fast as you can. Theearlier you get it, the more rapeage you do.

    Levels 6-11

  • 8/14/2019 Furion the Prophet

    11/16

At level 6, try to use Wrath immediately when the creepwaves are all visible on your minimap. Agood tactic is to send your minions to one creep camp and send Furion to another camp to scoreeven more hits. You can also walk to the lane next to you and use it on an enemy creep with lowHP, it'll bounce around and hit the enemy hero in the lane. Keep farming and you'll have Eul'sScepter before you know it.

You should constantly have an army ofTr33z doing your bidding, you can even split them intogroups and have them farm more than one camp at a time. Remember, you have an imbaTeleport, abuse it. Just keep farming and keep an eye on the mini-map to help your team defendif you need to. Gank when the opportunity arises. With the help of your allies, your Eul's andSprout will putPH33R INTO THE HEARTS OF YOUR ENEMIES!! Farm, spam Wrath, farmsome more.

As Wrath levels, it increases your ability to farm greatly as the cooldown is only 60 seconds andthe damage is increased. Use it the same as before. This is when the team pushes start happening, and when they do, you'll be ready. With your army ofTr33z and 30 second Teleport, you canwarp all over the map, pushing and farming. Decide whether to get your Vitality Booster or

Treads first (I usually get Vitality first), to finish up the Core Item Build.

    Necrobook Build :

Once you have Level 1 Necronomicon complete, go gank someone. Teleport behind themsomewhere out of sight and summon your little guys. (Using the Necrosummons properly iscovered in the Advanced Strategy section.) Make sure to use the ranged summons Mana Burnearly on. The ideal way to rape the enemy is to send your summons after him, and them Sprouthim, trapping him inside with them. They should be burning mana away quickly, making it muchmore difficult for the enemy to escape.

When youre not ganking, make sure youre farming as fast as you can the Level 2 and 3 recipesfor Necrobook. Its usefulness wanes as the game goes on, but when its gotten early its RAPE,and Furion can get it early. Remember you should ganking when possible to keep your enemiesdown, but farming is a lot more efficient at getting the gold you need. So keep farming. WhenNecrobook is finished, grab your Treads.

If your enemies are warding up the map, and especially if theyre warding up your jungle, remember that you can use your Necrosummons to farm and at Level 3 the blue summon hasTrue Sight, so you can use it to detect and take out wards. Remember to use that to your

  • 8/14/2019 Furion the Prophet

    12/16

advantage: if you keep getting ganked in the forest, your enemies are probably warding you up,get rid of them.

    Mid game

    Levels 12-17

You should be getting your Guinsoo very soon. Congratulations, you have your first Level 4item. Guinsoo increases your damage output by a ton, and adds a reliable disable to your arsenal. The cheap IAS from your Treads also synergizes well with the incredible damage just added bycompleting Guinsoo. You will really start to shine at this point in the game, so take advantage ofyour power and grab some kills whenever and wherever you can.

You're a farming machine. Grab a Messerschmidt's Reaver and finish HoT and your enemies willcow in fear at the sight of your purply swirly! You have well over 2000 HP, and you kill. If

you're doing well it's entirely possible to have the above items at this stage in the game. That'swhat you should be aiming for.

    Necrobook Build :

Strategy from here on out is the same. Push with your team and gank. Farm up for the big itemsyou need to take you through the late game and carry your team for victory. Necrobook shouldbe starting to weaken, but remember that its always extremely useful for the True Sight: you cankeep using it to take out wards and invisible enemies.

    Late game

    Levels 18-25

  • 8/14/2019 Furion the Prophet

    13/16

Get your Diffusal Blade. Don't be stingy with your purge charges, you're going to want to use upall of them before finishing Manta Style later. Push with your team, take down towers, and whenteam battles start, stay at the back and use your arsenal of disables to create confusion. Afterbattles, you can use your disables to help your team chase down any enemie stragglersattempting to limp away. Gank, push, farm.

Finish up Manta Style, and your DPS becomes incredibly ridiculous. With two disables, MantaStyle, an imba 30-second teleport and the ability to crank out a ton of damage, you will bedominating. Later on, if the game is dragging on and you have the cash, I would suggest to graba Buriza. You will be sick. Furion will be doing over 600 damage crits and the images will doover 350 damage crits. Just wrong.

With this build, Furion never loses his effectiveness. You can push and defend at will all over themap. Just keep doing what you've been doing all game, and the most important of all is toremember that the winner is the team that takes down the Tree/Throne. Thatis your final goal.

    ADVANCED STRATEGY

    Jungling

    Microing your Summons

Early game while jungling, microing your summons is essential. Basically all it means is thatyou select all your units and have them attack the same neutral creep. But you constantly monitoryour summons' HP. Usually the neutrals all focus one of yourTr33z, and when the summon's HPgets around 3/4 to half, select him and pull him out of range of the neutrals. This will cause themto focus another creep. Just repeat the process. This ensures that all of yourTr33z stay around the

    same amount of health.

    Neutral Creep Farming

Some neutral creeps deserve a special mention on how to farm them while jungling.Satyrs - The little purple Satyr that looks like Rikimaru has a Purge that basically annihilates oneof yourTr33z. When attacking the Satyr Camps, send Furion in first to try to make the purpleSatyr blow his Purge on you. Always target the little Satyrs first.

  • 8/14/2019 Furion the Prophet

    14/16

Stompers - The Centaur and Ursa camps each contain a stomper: either the Centaur Warchief orPolar Ursa. Because their stomp damages all of your summons, focus them first. The quickerthey go down, the fewer times they can stomp you.

    DotaKeys

DotaKeys is an extremely useful program. Not only does it give you the option to haveeveryones HP bars displayed at all times, it lets you remap the hotkeys to whatever you want. You can get the program here. Read the help contents to get a basic understanding of theprogram. The Hero code for Furion is: furi.

Basically with the setup I recommend you rest your left hand on the A S D F keys, just like youdo when typing. The Q W E R keys correspond to your skills exactly as they are displayed on thescreen. Q is Sprout, W is Teleport, E is Force of Nature and R is your ultimate. In the edit profilescreen, set A to Attack and F to Halt. Set G to use your Creeps Skill (in this case the Mana Burnof your Necrosummon). This setup feels very natural because you should be used to having your

left hand resting on these keys, and its just so easy visually to push the QWER buttons thatrelate to your skills as you see them on the screen.

You can set Furion to be in group 1 by selecting him at the beginning of the game and pushingCtrl + 1, this way you can double tap 1 to quickly take the screen to him and select him. You canuse numbers 2-5 to use your items the same way that you can use the numbers on the numberpad, except its much quicker because its right there above your Skill keys. I recommend usingDotaKeys for every hero. The HP bar display (default Z) alone is worth learning how to use theprogram. Trust me, its SO much better than holding down Alt every 2 seconds to check HP tolast hit. Feel free to experiment and find a setup that works best for you.

    Using Necronomicon

    Necrobook Stats

    (Level 1/Level 2/Level 3)

Necronomicon gives +15/+21/+24 intel and +6/+10/+14 strength.

    Blue Melee Summon - 21/41/61 normal damage; 400/600/800 HP; 25/50/75 Feedback;

200/400/600 damage Last Will (deals damage to the unit that kills him). Gains True Sight at

    Level 3.Orange Ranged Summon - 31/61/91 piercing damage; 400/600/800 HP; 125/175/225 Mana

Burn; 3/6/9% Move Speed/Attack Speed Endurance Aura.

    Summons last for 30 seconds.

    15/16

    Using Mana Burn

With Necronomicon Level 1, when you select your hero and your summons it looks like this:

With multiple units selected, you can use Tab to cycle through them. Tab once to select theorange, ranged summon:

If you use the DotaKeys setup I recommend, press G to do your Mana Burn, otherwise the

hotkey is R. Then just tab back to Furion and continue your attack.

For some reason, when Necronomicon is Levels 2 and 3, to select the orange summon you have

    to Tab twice:

That's pretty much all there is to using Mana Burn. Just make sure that you use it as soon as you

can during combat. If you do it early enough it could be cooled down in time for you to use it

    again before your Necrosummons disappear.
