bull Befriending Services ndash Your support will help us continue to train and support our amazing volunteers who give up their time to make a difference in their local communities by visiting a care home or someone in their own home These visits are much more than a chat and a cup of tea they provide long-lasting friendships and a sense of belonging again

bull Community Engagement Projects ndash Your support will help us reach lonely older people or those at risk of isolation For example our Football Friends programme has been a lifeline to many who now have a new circle of friends and a renewed confidence

bull Financial Grants ndash Your support will help older people living on low income It will help to alleviate the daily stress and worry with our one off grants or regular allowances and give comfort to people knowing they do not have to make the choice between heating or eating

Alicersquos StoryAlice had not been out for a year before she attended Any Old Irons which is part of our Football Friends programme After her husband passed away in 2009 and with limited mobility Alice had become lonely and isolated from the community around her

Even just the very first session made a tremendous impact on Alice She told us that she felt like she was on holiday Alice loved chatting to other West Ham fans and enjoyed participating in the activities put on offer She described the experience as making her 100 happy

Today Alice feels accepted Not only has she made new friends the programme also

rekindled an old friendship with a neighbour she had known for many years but lost touch with

Gift Aid itGift Aid is a great way to make every donation worth 25 more and it wonrsquot cost you a penny extra You can increase the money you raise by simply asking sponsors or donors to complete their details on a sponsorship form on page 10 or tick the box when they sponsor you online if they are taxpayers in the UK and pay an amount of Income Tax andor Capital Gains Tax that is equal to the amount of all tax they pay to all charities they donate to This enables us to claim tax back from the government and increases the overall donation to the charity

Matched givingAsk your employer if they will match the amount you raise If your company has a Corporate Social Responsibility or Human Resources department they will usually be able to tell you if they have a matched giving scheme If you are having trouble finding the right person to talk to please get in touch and we will do our best to help
