About Us Contained herein are all the things you need to earn an extra $5,000 to $10,000 at your next charitable event. We have been involved in fundraising for over 13 years and have worked with some of the biggest names in the industry. This starter kit is the culmination of knowledge of dozens of professional fundraisers who know how to raise money – big money. Events are Fun! Vacations are Too! They almost go hand-in-hand. Golf tournaments, marathons, casino nights, dinner galas, silent auctions, poker runs, bingo nights can all benefit with some travel giveaways mixed in. A Two-Pronged Approach Our approach is two-fold. First, we will help you sell more tickets to increase participation levels. Second, we help you raise more money at the finale event by deploying our tried and proven Silent Auction selling system.

Big or Small It doesn’t matter to us. We work with all types of charities, both on the local and national levels. Churches, school PTAs and booster clubs are just as important to us as the American Cancer Society, American Red Cross and American Lung Association.

Door – to – Door Sales Get Up & Go! is a powerful enhancer to structured product resale programs like Girl Scout cookies, Boy Scout popcorn, school candy drives, booster magazine subscriptions and so on. See next page

How To Sell More Door – To – Door Tactic 1 – Incentify Customers to Buy More A 3-tiered incentive works very well. Here’s what’s worked in the past. What is interesting is that people who aren’t even interested in the cookies, candy or popcorn will purchase more product to get the vacation and give the extra away to their friends and relatives.

$ 100 worth of tickets or product ............ 3-day, 2-night vacation $ 200 worth of tickets or product ............ 4-day, 3-night vacation $ 300 worth of tickets or product ............ 5-day, 6-night vacation Ø Tactic 1 by itself should give you a 25% increase in sales.

Tactic 2 – Incentify Salespeople to Sell More In similar fashion to the above, also reward the families of the kids that put in all the effort. Depending on your organization size, and the size of your sales force, take last year’s sales actuals, increase them by 50%, and make that this year’s sales goals tied to a vacation for reaching them.

Ø Tactic 1 + Tactic 2 if used together should get you a 50% increase in sales. Tactic 3 – Follow These “Best Practices”

1. Don’t assign territories and leave it up to the kids to work it on their own. Instead, have everyone meet in vans at one place.

2. Work in teams of 2, one person on each side of the sidewalk. 3. Work a neighborhood more than once. Knock on the same doors

even if they said “no” the prior week, because chances are; a. Someone different will answer the door – the “yes” person b. The same person will be in a different frame of mind – in a “yes” frame of mind c. They are tired of you knocking and will buy to get off the list. Persistence pays!

Ø Tactics 1, 2 and 3 if used together should get you a 100% increase in sales.

How To Sell More Event Tickets A Vacation with Every Ticket Typically, the highest revenue in a Charity Fundraiser is ticket sale revenue. The easiest way to sell more tickets is to ad value. A fun way to ad value is by including a Get Up & Go! vacation. Not only can you charge more money for the event itself, but you will end up selling more tickets and have more attendees at the silent auction. See next page.

How To Run a Silent Auction What Is a Silent Auction? Silent auction is a variant of the English auction in which bids are written on a sheet of paper. At the predetermined end of the auction, the highest listed bidder wins the item. This auction is often used in charity events, with many items auctioned simultaneously and "closed" at a common finish time.

Key Concepts Bidding Behavior While many people may bid on a particular item, only one person actually wins. What happens to the other bidders? They were truly interested in buying the item but lost out to someone else. Why not give them a second, or a third, opportunity to buy? Some bidders don’t want to “hover over” the item they bid on to ensure their position. Many would rather “grab it quick” and return to their table to enjoy their meal. Think in Threes (3) If you set up the environment for 3 micro bidding events, you can sell the identical item 3 different times. This doesn’t just apply to Get Up & Go! vacations. When you are soliciting for donations, ask for 3 of each item. Where to Place the Bidding Tables Try to visualize how the event will flow. Map out where people will be coming in, where they will be gathering, sitting and moving about. It is important to place the auction tables in a high traffic area. The center of the room is best. Do not place bidding tables in a separate room. Create Your Own Traffic Pattern Here’s an easy way to “create” a natural traffic zone. Set up separate coffee and desert bars at opposite ends of the room. Make them both “self service”. Guest will have to get up and walk right past your tables. You’d be surprised how many more people will participate in the bidding. Shopping List

Setting Up The Event Decorate Your Tables Color sells so color-code each table with plastic tablecloths and helium balloons. This is our most successful color combination. Buy a bag of star glitter and sprinkle them about the tables liberally. Set Up The Tables A common mistake is to separate tables according to price. All 3 table sets should have a variety to things to bid on - both high and low priced items. You’ll need to attach the pens to the clipboards with strings or they will walk. Place the item beside the clipboard. Get Up & Go! brochures should be laid flat on the table. People will want to pick them up and read them. Good Lighting and Reading Glasses It is a good idea to have good lighting and reading glasses available. Turn on “Flashlight Mode” on your smart phone. Other people will get the idea.

During The Event Publish the 3 Closing Times In your collateral, clearly state the table closing times and exactly 30 minutes apart. This allows for a 2-hour event. Work The Microphone - 3 Count Downs This is the most important part of all. Make sure the announcer mentions the silent auction every 15 minutes or so. Moreover, the MC should “count down” the closing times 3-2-1. “Only 3 more minuets until the orange table is closed. Time to get up and make your last bids. These items won’t last long” 3 Table Closes When bidding ends, quickly remove the balloons from the closed table (and give them to the kiddies). Start delivering the goods and collecting the money. Make sure you make notes at the bottom of the bid form.

Get a PayPal Account You will raise lots more money if your organization is able to take credit cards. If you haven’t already, set up a PayPal account. Prominently display the fact that you take credit cards.
