4 Research Office Grant Management System A new project to implement a Grant Management System at NUI Galway will launch in Spring 2013. This system, currently in the early design stages will contribute significantly towards more streamlined and efficient internal grant management processes. This user friendly system will integrate with other University systems to ensure that budget holders have a complete view of their research grants, associated grant documentation and budget information. Additionally, the system will have a full suite of reports which will be available to Colleges, Schools, Disciplines and Research Centres on Research grant activity. For more information on the Grant Management System please contact Natalie Walsh, Research Desk Manager [email protected]

5 Research Accounts Research Audit Findings • Internal NUIG Invoices & Charges:
A number of funders following on from the European Union are now not allowing internal invoices/charges as Allowable Expenditure. These include:
o Enterprise Ireland o Environmental Protection Agency
• Environmental Protection Agency and Payment of Invoices:
At Final Cost Statement Stage Supplier invoices paid after the end date of your award may be disallowed by the EPA.
• Recommendation:
Ensure that invoices are processed in a timely manner so that they are paid before the closure of your project. This will ensure you do not result with expenditure being disallowed by the funder which will then have to be funded by you from other sources.
