When sound from the film eject motor has stopped, remove the picture from the Film Eject Slot by grasping the picture by its top edge. * Remove the film sheet aſter each shot to prepare the Film Eject Slot for the next picture. Additional Camera Functions Cont. [] "Always Flash" mode (no display) I Use for normal shoting When the subject is dark, the camera Flash provides a supplementary light source for proper exposures. *The camera flash will fire even in bright locations. *The flash can only provide supplementary light at distances between (0.6- 3.2m) (1.96- 10.49ft). - . . t . ,_ _ �· @ "Red-Eye Reduction" mode I Use for Red-Eye Reduction After fully depressing the Shutter Button, the camera flash will fire automatically three times and a picture will be taken during the fourth camera flash. *Do not move the camera or subject until the end of the fourth flash. Open the back cover by pressing down the Back Cover Film Lock. *When a film pack is properly loaded, yellow will be visible in the Film Pack Confirmation Window and the number of exposures is displayed in the Film Counter. ( The number of available exposures is ) only displayed when the camera is powered on. Do not touch, bend or scratch the picture you have just taken or uneven picture development may occur during the photo development process. Additionally, do not shake the film sheet during the photo development process. Red-eye Phenomenon Red Eye is caused by the light from the camera flash reflecting off the back of the retina of the subjects eye. The light traveling into the eye is reflected back at the same angle in which it hit the retina. In low light conditions, the eye responds by opening up its iris. By doing so, the iris appears larger, and more light can be let in. Inversely, more light can be reflected back at the camera when a picture is taken causing the subjects red eye to be prominent in the photograph. The camera "Red-Eye Reductionmode can reduce the red-eye phenomenon. 1 - Film Ty _ e ____ . · Use Fujifilm Wide Instant Color Film "lnstax"only! (Camera cannot be used with any other film types). With the film pack positioned as shown, align the yellow line on the film pack with the yellow alignment mark inside the camera body. Insert the film pack straight into the camera body. * Make sure the camera batter ies are present before installing a film pack. Installing a film pack when camera batteries are not installed will cause the film counter to malfunction. +Photo Finish+ Pictures can be taken when film sheets are exposed at temperatures between 10 "C (50F) and 35 "C (95F). For lower temperatures, warm exposed film sheets for 30 seconds in a jacket pocket or other warm place immediately ofter exposed film sheet is ejected f r om the camera. For beautiful pictures always remember: "Film sheet temperature during the first 30 seconds of film sheet development is important". *Do not place exposed film sheets on hot sand, concrete or near a stove to speed the development process. *Avoid placing pictures in direct sunlight until the film sheet development process is complete. ® "Flash Disabled" Mode Use if natural light is desired or to prevent reflections caused by the flash strobe. *When shooting in dark conditions, use a tripod to prevent camera shake. *When camera is powered-off, this mode is automatically reset. ., - Camera Stra ___ · Attach the camera strap to both camera Strap Hooks as shown. After the film pack is inserted, close the Back Cover making sure the Back Cover Case Lock is actuated. The film light-shielding cover plate (black) is discharged automatically from the camera Film Eject Slot when the Back Cover is closed. The film cover can be discarded. * lf the Back Cover is opened after a film pack has been inserted, there is a possibility that the photosensitive film pack could be exposed by light entering the camera. Installing Batteries . + Use 2 x (CR123A) 3v lithium batteries. + Tests show batteries will last through approx. 30 packs of Fujifilm lnstax Wide film. *All the batteries must be new and be the same type and size. *While traveling or when taking a lot of pictures, have a backup battery available in case of emergency.ln particular, overseas in some areas it may be difficult to obtain batteries. *Insert the batteries before you load the film pack. Press down on the Battery Cover and move the cover in the direction of the arrow to remove it. Install fresh batteries in the camera aking sure that battery polarity is observed as shown in the illustration. Align the Battery Cover as shown and move the cover in the direction of the arrow to close. Powering the Camera ON I OFF To power-on the camera, press the POWER Button. To power-off the camera, press the POWER Button again. *The lens will expand when the camera POWER Button is pressed, Make sure the front of the camera and lens are clear of obstructions before powering-on the camera. The camera lens will expand and the flash will start charging when the camera is powered-on. * If no operation is performed for about 5 minutes, the lens will retract automatically and the camera will power-off to save power. The Flash Lamp Indicator will light (red) while the flash is charging, The Flash Lamp Indicator will turn-off when charging is complete. *While the flash is charging, the camera shutter will not activate. *It can take up to 30 seconds to charge the flash when batteries are low and need replacing. Low battery power may also cause the camera shutter to not activate. fi Taking Pictures I After the film cover plate is ejected, (1 0) is displayed in the film counter window indicating the number of exposures remaining. *Aſter installing the film pack, do not open the Battery Cover. Opening the Battery Cover could possibility expose the photosensitive film sheets. *With the camera powered-off, the film cover is ejected automatically and the Film Counter displays the number of film sheets remaining for 10 seconds and then turn off. For normal shooting, leave the Lighten-Darken Control set in the center position. (For further use of Lighten-Darken Control, refer to the "Technique" section of this guide). Hold camera firmly with both hands as shown in the figure and look through the Rear Viewfinder Eyepiece to compose a shot. When shooting in a vertical or horizontal position, make sure no objects obscure the flash, lens, or light-receiving Automatic Exposure (AE) Sensor Window. *Do not block the Film Eject Slot with hands, fingers or other objects. 0 Short-Range Correction Frame Guide What you see in viewfinder field of view is different when framing subjects at distances greater than 1.2m (3.93ft.). When shooting subjects at distances between 0.6 1.2m (1.96 3,93ft.), frame the subject using the Short-Range Correction Frame Guide viewable in the Rear Viewfinder Eyepiece. The camera focuses on objects that are visible in the Auto Focus (AF) Target Mark. Hold the camera steady and align the Auto Focus (AF) Target Mark on the subject you want the camera to focus on. (For further use of Lighten-Darken Control, please refer to the "Additional Camera Functions" section of this guide). + Auto Focus Limitations + On rare occasions the SOOAF Auto Focus (AF) feature may not function correctly. In this case, please use the AF Lock feature to take a picture. Some situations where the AF feature may not work. *When shooting through glass or when the subject is illuminated by a very bright light source (Sun). *When the subject has low reAectivity (black hair, etc.). *When shooting a mirror or other highly reflective surface. *When shooting smoke or fire. *When shooting through glass. Half-press the Shutter Button to Auto Focus (AF) the camera. The AF Lamp will illuminate (Steady-green) to indicate AF is complete. *The AF Lamp will flash [green) when a subject is too close to the camera lens for the AF to function properly. Move away form the subject to focus the camera. * The AF function cannot focus on objects closer than 0.4m (1.31 ft.) to the camera lens. *The AF Lamp [green) is only active aſter Flash charging is complete and the Flash Lamp (red) has turned off. - I Remove the Film Pack I ., Additional Camera Functions I After 10 pictures have been taken (1 pack of film), "E" will be displayed on the Film counter and the camera shutter will not actuate. !) Technique +Picture exposure is affected by the amount of ambient light illuminating the subject being photographed. +To adjust the exposure of the finished photo, adjust the Lighten-Darken Control as shown in the table below. Photos I Shading Control Whitish (Pale) "DARKEN" Dark (Dark) "LIGHTEN" Open the back cover and remove the empty film pack by placing a finger into the hole on the back of the pack film. When the subject is out of the AF target mark in the middle of the screen, the AF will not focus on the subject. In this situation, the AF lock function can be used. +Adjust picture exposure in varying shooting conditions. If the subject appears washed out, set the camera Lighten-Darken Control to the [DARKEN] position. LIGHTE1 �ARKEN . If the subject appears dark, set the Lighten-Darken Control to the [LIGHTEN] position, Align the AF target mark on the person first, then half-press the Shutter button to (AF lock) on the subject and confirm the AF LED lights up (green). While holding the half-pressed Shutter Button (AF lock), reframe the suects in the viewfinder and fully depss the Shutter but ton to take the picture. *Repeat the AF lock process as needed until you are ready to take the picture. +Self-Timer Function Press the self-timer button(�) to display the self-timer on the liquid crystal display unit. After the Shutter button is half-pressed to AF on wh•t is seen through the viewfinder, fully depress the Shutter button to start the self-timer. When you shoot a subject against a reflective surface such as a window or mirror, position yourself at an angle to the subject to prevent the reflected light from entering the camera. Additionally, the camera Flash can be turned off. When you shoot pictures of two or more people, make sure that they are positioned at an equal distance from the camera so that they get the same exposure. 7 seconds after the Self-Timer Lamp is activated, the Self-Timer Lamp indicator will blink for 3 seconds before the shutter is released. *After each shot, the Self-timer mode is automatically canceled. * If you would like to cancel the Self-Timer during operation, power-off the camera using the POWER Button. +Shooting Mode Each time the Flash Mode Button is pressed the camera shooting mode is changed and displayed on the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). 1tt Film & Print Care I +Keep films in a cool and dry place. Do not leave films in a place where the temperature is extremely high (e.g., in a closed car) for many hours. +When you load a film pack, use all the films as soon as possible. +When taking pictures after placing the films in a place where the temperature is extremely high or low, place them under the normal temperature for a while before starting to take pictures. +Be sure to use the films within the expiration period. +It is recommended that undeveloped film and cameras containing film be carried as hand luggage when flying. If included in checked-in baggage, X-ray inspections may cause over-printing or other effects. +Avoiding strong light, keep the prints in a cool and dry place.

Short-Range Correction Frame Guide
